Course Description
Apache Beam is a unified and portable programming model for both Batch and Streaming data use cases.
Earlier we could run Spark, Flink & Cloud Dataflow Jobs only on their respective clusters. But now Apache Beam has come up with a portable programming model where we can build language agnostic Big data pipelines and run it on any Big data engine (Apache Spark, Flink or in Google Cloud Platform using Cloud Dataflow service and many more Big data engines).
Apache Beam is the future of building Big data processing pipelines and is going to be accepted by mass companies due to its portability. Many big companies have even started deploying Beam pipelines in their production servers.
What's included in the course ?
Complete Apache Beam concepts explained from Scratch to Real-Time implementation.
Every Apache Beam concept is taught through Hands-on, practical examples for better understanding
Core Apache Beam topics including Architecture, Various PTransforms (Map, FlatMap, Filter, ParDo etc.), Combiner, Side inputs/outputs.
ADVANCE topics - Type Hints, Encoding & Decoding, Watermarks, Triggers and many more.
Build 2 Real-time Big data case studies using Apache Beam programming model.
Learn to implement Windows functions - Tumbling, Sliding, Global and Session Windows.
Load processed data to Google Cloud BigQuery Tables from Apache Beam pipeline via Dataflow.
All codes and datasets used in lessons are attached in the course for your convenience.

I was preparing for gcp data engineer but I wanted to deep dive into how dataflow works. No doubt google cloud has learning modules and I finished them all but it is overwhelming. I think this course should be the start and then go to google tutorials.

A good course. But adding more insights on Cloud Data Flow side would be helpful, like selecting proper experiments or good practicies in cases of extremely large production grade systems. Neverthless a good course to start beam programming in python.

Thank's so much, for the accuracy of the case studies and explanations on the applied solutions. As an architect I'm continuously looking for the best solution to adapt for business requirements. Your courses will help me a lot... no doubts with that I wish you the best, See you soon Hacene

I have the feeling I am fully equipped to start developing medium to complex pipeline. The explanation about watermark took a few shortcuts but it's the best I have ever read (I mean now I am clear about the concept and in the same time I understand the complexity around it).

The course is very informative. It provides clean insights and real world examples in developing Beam pipelines and transformations. The sessions on GCP with DataFlow and BigQuery are very informative and gives a glimpse of big data handling. I highly recommend this course to get jump started with Apache Beam.

The course is good but need to be updated or at least the teacher should give some workarounds and not only say that we have to change some code since he is using collab with python 2 and it is not supported anymore.

The course is a very good introduction to Apache Beam and covers all the basic concepts to get you started with writing Beam pipelines. The code examples are also very useful and helps in doing hands-on practise. One remark would be, as Beam like any other open source project is day-by-day expanding some of the latest concepts may need to added to this course. Thanks.

pros: - delivers the basics of Beam - integration with GCP is a good plus cons: - skipped advanced concepts of Beam - no sophisticated large-scale projects in this course that can be showcased to employers. small projects are great for learning but large-scale, sophisticated projects are the best part of Udemy 5-star courses that sets themselves apart from competitors - content could have been upgraded to Python3 instead of Python2

Thank you! An excellent course. really enjoyed short precise videos, this allowed me to practice and write my own code. With that said. Thanks a ton! It would be interesting to see videos how beam can be run on Flink as a part of this course rather than comparisons between Spark Vs Flink in the Bonus lectures.

Course content is really fine and the instructor does his best really to convey concepts. I'm not satisfied with the support though, I asked two questions during the course, and one remained unanswered, the second one was answered by out of scope of this course, which is not acceptable for me and shows the instructor is not super helpful. Also I might have missed it, but there has never been any mention of what version of python apache_beam library was used in this course. Anyway, short answer, this is to me, the best course on apache beam out there for now, but there are many ways it can be improved.
