Description:
This course is all about understanding the Direct Memory Access Controller of the Micro-controller and how to use it in the embedded applications.
The course uses ARM Cortex M based STM32 Micro-controller for all theory discussion and code exercises. The course discusses generic details of the DMA which you can leverage to other Micro-controllers but you have made changes to the code in order to run on your target if it's not an ST's 32-bit Micro-controller.
The course will help you to raise your confidence in handling your MCU's DMA controller and connecting dots by going through the various levels of discussion.
I really tried to simplify the subject with clean/generic explanations and exercises.
We will discuss why DMA is required and how it benefits ARM to offload data transfer work with exercises.
We will learn different types of DMA transfers like M2M, P2M, and M2P (M: Memory P: Peripheral) and various DMA configurations. Please go through "What will I learn?" section above.
For the beginners/intermediate students, the course will indeed add huge advantage and helps to use DMA successfully in Embedded applications.

Really great course on STM32 DMA! The DMA peripheral is explained in a very clear and structured way, making it easy to understand even from scratch. It significantly helped me build a strong foundation and develop DMA-based code confidently. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to deeply understand DMA and implement it from the ground up. Thank you!

Solid simple introduction to DMA techniques with MCUs. There are, however, quite a few concepts not covered. For example, circular buffering + reasons why/why not to use it, descriptor-style DMA usage + scatter/gather memory techniques, DMA interaction with MCU power states, cache coherency problems cause by DMA, DMA buffer alignment issues, etc. These are necessary techniques and concepts for getting full usage out of DMA in real systems. But as a first step with learning DMA, this course does a decent job.

Excellent course by Kiran I have purchased all the courses which are taught by Kiran. The way he teaches is incredible. Before taking this class I didn't even know the printf function as I am hardware engineer but after proceeding with his Basic embedded C, MCU1 & MCU2 classes I am now confident with C programming and also Microcontroller architecture. God Bless you Kiran for introducing such courses and simplifying it to the student who doesn't even have basic C programming skills and your positive attitude is so great, that now I am confident that I can learn anything which is just not your course work but anything outside. I hope soon you start teaching self driving car project and algorithms.

I think this course is not complete due to the wide range of topics concerning to DMA controller. But the points covered here are thoroughly explained in a clear and understandable way. The final part, where is described the configuration of DMA from scratch through registers is very detailed and dive deep into the microcontroller through the code. As the others courses, I'm satisfied with it. I encourage to instructors to make a continuation of this Thanks

Nice experience. As a professional my rating is 4 just because I was looking for some complex application under this course. One suggestion : Even if course is not meant for complex problem at lease leave some complex real time exercise so that we can try that for fun and send Q/A for the same Or else there is nothing to ask with out working real time on some real project having DMA or whatever the course for. Overall Course is well structured for beginner or just to brush up concepts.

As part of gaining a complete spectrum of courses in leaning about STM32 micro-controllers, I decided to take all courses personally recommended by the dedicated instructor. All courses met and exceeded expectations, but this one in particular went one step beyond by expounding all crucial details of creating a working DMA example from scratch! This is what dedicated micro-controller enthusiast are looking for and this is exactly whet this instructor delivers! If you want to learn about STM32 micro-controllers, get these courses. Do like I did, complete the courses and review the material over and over again until you master what's being taught. It a difficult subject area to learn, but persistence has its rewards. There nothing better than seeing your ideas being realized into true working micro-controller apparatus designed and built by yourself.

This is a great course! Highly recommended if you have a need to learn how to program DMA and microcontrollers. We have a specific application at work where we will use STM32 to reduce cost of testing and the solution is fairly complicated. This course made it easy to program the microcontroller, a device I learned in engineering course about 30 years ago and never touched again until now. This course made it easy to recall how a microcontroller work and how to program it. There is so much easier with all the IDE and drivers already available. The instructor is really good and would rate higher than excellent. I also took the embedded programming in C and Bootloader course from the FastBit Embedded Brain Academy. I think those three are excellent courses from Udemy. Thank you for providing these courses. Again, highly recommended!

The instructor does an excellent job of explaining the DMA architecture and use on the ARM CORTEX M3/M4. The STM32F CORTEX microcontroller is the primary focus of discussion and examples, as is the Keil Compiler, but the instructor considers other CORTEX M3/M4 microcontrollers (such as TI Tiva and NXP) and other IDE's (STM's SW4STM32). The pace of the course was perfect for me. More experienced individuals may find the pace slow, but the instructor's presentation is perfect for the beginner. Some lectures go slightly fast, but not too fast. The scrolling of the material (program listing and documentation can be a bit confusing, but is typical of many such presenations. I would highly recommend this course for those that want an in depth understanding of DMA functionality. Although the concept of circular buffer mode and burst mode are mentioned in the course, and the instructor mentions on several occations that those modes will be discussed in future lectures, there were not (as of 11/11/2018). I'm hoping the instructor will add videos for those modes as they can be quite confusing. So, I would highly recommend this course for those that want an in depth understanding of DMA functionality. It helped enlighten me enough to believe that DMA is a highly misunderstood tools that can really improve your embedded application in many instances.

Course is designed in well structured manner. The explanations are clear. This course is teaching the way to program from scratch(without using tool generated Apis) which I could not find in most of the other courses. As we are creating our own APIs, it is easy to understand the concepts more clear and deep manner. Thanks for this course. Looking forward for more course like this.

The course not only explain the internal logic inside DMA but also provided extensive uses of DMA using HAL and also going to a register level bare-metal approach which really gave me experience configuring and using interrupts, DMA and peripherals. Something great is the extensive review in context of the datasheet and reference manual, when needed, to explain why we were doing. That helps understanding the underlying logic and also gives the tool needed to use new peripherals. In my future projects the knowledge obtained in this course will be of great value.
