Course Description

In today's fast-paced and dynamic business environment, containerization and orchestration are becoming increasingly important. Kubernetes has become the de facto standard for container orchestration and management, providing organizations with the flexibility and scalability needed to manage modern applications.

Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is a fully managed Kubernetes service that eliminates the complexity of managing and scaling your Kubernetes infrastructure, enabling you to focus on building and deploying your applications. AKS offers benefits such as seamless integration with other Azure services, rapid deployment and scaling, automatic upgrades, built-in security and compliance, and much more.

This course is meant to make AKS easy to learn, understand, and to provide students with a comprehensive and practical experience with AKS.

The course start with an introduction about containers and Kubernetes, then we will cover topics such as creating and managing Kubernetes clusters, understand the components at Kubernetes and Azure level, configuring networking with respect to network plugins, Kubernetes services, SNAT, outbound types and types of AKS clusters in relation to control plane access, like public or private AKS clusters and the ones with VNET integration.

Security will be the next topics and we will start with a section about AKS-managed Active Directory integration, then we will look gain knowledge of identities, certificates, network policies, how to use secrets from the Azure Key Vault, about Azure policy, Microsoft Defender, AppArmor, and SecComp.

Scaling is important, so we will discover resource reservations, Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA), Vertical Pod Autoscaler, Cluster Autoscaler (CAS), Virtual Nodes add-on, and KEDA.

The next section will be Storage, and you will learn how to use Azure Disk, including snapshot, resize, Azure File, and Azure Blob in AKS.

Then, we will discover the monitoring and troubleshooting chapter, where we will learn default available features as well as enabling Container Insights or managed Prometheus and Grafana.

Subsequent to this, we will learn about upgrades and related features like auto-upgrade or planned maintenance, then how to integrate our AKS cluster with the Azure Container Registry.

After this, we will focus on ingress controllers, like application gateway ingress controllers (AGIC) and nginx ingress controllers, and how to expose an application via HTTPS or how to use Let's Encrypt and Cert Manager.

Finally, we will focus on high availability, and you will learn about available tiers, availability zones, and how to obtain reliability while routing traffic between multiple AKS clusters.

By the end of this course, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to effectively deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters in AKS, and to leverage the benefits of AKS in the industry, including faster application development, improved scalability, and increased flexibility.

An excelent course to help you grasp how k8s works in AKS. You will need a basic understanding of both azure and k8s to get the most out of it. As the basic k8s parts are a bit confusing without prior understanding. I'd recomend taking a "KCNA: Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate Course" prior to this one.

The Flask image mentioned in the lecture is outdated. need to use 3.11 instead of python3.7 whose image is not available and fails to pull. Several other issues while doing get occurred, where it was showing many other defaulted kubernetes objects in addition to the ones which were created. Need some clarity or probably need to create the objects with some namespaces in order to get and align with the lecture's output

The instructor reads and follows the documentation, adding basic examples, but doesn't make a clear effort to explain the underlying concepts. The course lacks real-world context , making it feel more like a narrated guide than an instructional course from a real expert.

Great course content! I learnt few other Azure courses in Udemy and the authors have kept the commands and Yaml files under Resources and it would have been helpful to practice well. Accent was little challenging for first few lessons.

This course was incredibly insightful and well-structured. This course has significantly improved my understanding. Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn Kubernetes!"

The course is great and I how everything is explained and how complex concepts are simplified. One point for improvement I can think about (As a veteran Udemy learner) I found myself needing to pause and start the videos quite often since theory and actual practice are tightly coupled, especially in parts where heavy / time consuming operations are running in the background. Maybe more separation between the two could improve the flow even more!

I was referred to this course by my manager and didn't know the teacher much, my sole objective was to get more involved with an AKS customer that i've so i can understand what exactly is going on in their solution regarding AKS issues. I can attest that even as i was going through this course and concepts were being explained and understood, the conversation regarding AKS started making sense with my customer. There's a lot of stuff in this course, i might have not understood everything but have learned enough to expand my knowledge further, thanks Andrei.

the course is well composed and logically structured. you will be guided through the material step by step. many practical examples, hands on experience. you don't have to make any preparations definitely recommended!

I found this course excellent - lots of ground covered, but explained and demonstrated in a clear and easy-to-understand way with a really good focus on practical sessions. I learned a good amount on Kubernetes and AKS from doing it, and know it'll be a good reference point to come back to for bits that I didn't fully remember. If I had any constructive feedback, just a couple of minor points - sometimes the YAML files prepared by Andrei and used in the practical sessions were not attached as resources to the lecture, which meant having to pause the video to re-write it all. Also, it could be a little slow as we were only told to create specific AKS clusters at the start of the lecture they pertained to - this meant often having to wait 5-10 minutes for the cluster to create. It'd be good if we were told at the start of every section exactly what AKS clusters we're going to be using, so we can start them ahead of time and they can be ready to go for when the lecture starts They're small quabbles though - I loved this course and would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how to properly use AKS.

This course has been very helpful in filling in the learning gaps. As someone who works in support for AKS, learning how to troubleshoot certain issues is one thing but understanding how AKS works and following along with your own cluster is very helpful for a deeper understanding which in turn further helps with troubleshooting. Thanks, Andrei, for making this course and keeping it up to date!
