Our take

Based on the ratings of 67 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in June 2024. No course pays to be reviewed.

Fatah Gabrial's course is a short tour of Adobe Dreamweaver for people who want to build sites with the visual tools instead of typing everything by hand. It runs 5.4 hours over 73 lectures in nine sections. The first half covers HTML inserts, forms, a basic site and the live site designer. The back half touches jQuery Mobile and jQuery UI, then builds an employee management web app and a blog template. Despite the beginner label, the description itself asks for basic HTML5 and CSS3 first.

Among the four and five star reviews, one says the Bootstrap section covered something they had not seen in other courses. Another says it built their confidence. The complaints are consistent, though. One student found it basic and wanted to see more of the code. Another could not tell what IDs and classes actually do. The lowest review says the delivery speeds up around the forms lectures, with little explanation of why each step is taken. One reviewer needed time to adjust to the speaker.

Of 67 reviews, 52 are four or five stars and 11 are three stars, so it is decent but not glowing. The last update was June 2024, and one student says Dreamweaver has changed a lot since 2020, so some screens may not match. With about 12,000 students, it is a modest option. It is worth a look if you already know a little HTML and want a fast, project-led intro. If you want to understand the code underneath, pair it with a proper HTML and CSS course.

Best forPeople who already know basic HTML and CSS and want a quick tour of Dreamweaver's visual tools and Bootstrap.
Skip it ifYou want to learn real coding, or need a course that matches the latest Dreamweaver interface.

Pros

  • Bootstrap section covers a topic one reviewer had not seen in other courses
  • Two finished builds: an employee management web app and a blog template
  • Only 5.4 hours across 73 lectures, easy to finish and get a feel for the tool
  • Reviewers say it helped their confidence building responsive sites without hand-coding

Cons

  • Delivery speeds up around forms with little explanation of why, per the lowest review
  • Last updated June 2024, and a reviewer says Dreamweaver's interface has changed since 2020
  • Light on the code itself, so IDs, classes and what the markup does stay unclear
The course is basic, I wish I could see a bit more from the code to have a better compreension of what was going on.
Luiza Duarte de Souza, a student

Labeled beginner, but it asks for basic HTML5 and CSS3 first, so true newcomers may struggle.

Fatah Gabrial

Hello! I'm Fatah Gabrial, an enthusiastic web development instructor passionate about teaching practical skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP and MySQL. With decades of experience in web design and development, I've built thousands of projects, including custom PHP scripts and WordPress themes used by various companies.

My journey into teaching began during the Covid-19 pandemic when traditional training institutes closed their doors. I transitioned to online platforms like many others, but I sought a more efficient way to share my knowledge. That's when I discovered Udemy, and I was inspired to create courses that could empower learners by teaching once and reaching many.

As a self-taught web designer and developer, I believe in a hands-on approach to learning. My teaching philosophy follows the 80/20 rule, where 80% of my courses focus on practical applications, while only 20% covers theory. This method ensures that my students gain the essential skills needed to excel in the ever-evolving world of web development.

This is very helpful. I'll know more at the end. But I am very, very hopeful that this will help me design better websites using Dreamweaver.

OK a bit confusing as different from previous experience of layouts

Good course, full of information and examples

By Jan R Underhill on 8/23/2022

Took a while to adjust to the speaker...but I probably was most challenged by the changes in Dreamweaver since 2020.

By Glen Tillman on 10/31/2021

It started out OK. The instructor was covering the INSERT options and when he got to FORMS, his delivery changed. He went from explaining the features to high-speed mode and I could no longer cleaner understand what he was saying half the time and stating what "he would do" with little to no explanation as to why you do or "need" to do (provides no reasoning behind what he's doing). If you don't get what I'm talking about, here's an example. If you teach someone 1+1=2 they may memorize that. But without the logic of why that's true, knowledge or understanding of why is missing and you cannot apply it when faced with "what do I do next." I've come across this so many times with the courses on your platform and this is primarily why I can't finish any of them. If this does not get better, I'm gonna request a refund.

I am following the course but it's not clear to me what IDs an Classes actually do. I just learn how to apply names.
