The class is good and the app is interesting but the API has changed and the example code does not work. I was able to figure out how to use the new API and the data it provides and still complete the course.

The structure of the course is not good. John miss the line of thought a lot. At this exact moment, I am trying to reach for a lot of answers in google/youtube cause the content is incomplete or outdated

I came up with most of the new codes myself, but of course couldn't start it from scratch which what this course did. Not a boring lecturer tho.

It was a great course! it's not my first course of this type and i've watched John Elder's free courses on youtube too. I love how John explains things and i've subscribed to his website too. He is one of the best online programming teachers out there. If you wanna learn python, ruby on rails and a lot more, you can't go wrong with him.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course, as a newbie to Python this course has definitely given me confidence to move forward and continue to learn more about the language. John explains ideas and concepts in a way that is easy to understand. He has good timing and pace with his lectures.

The first programming course I've ever finished and understood. I bought 6 other courses with other teachers and never completed because of either poor explaning or problems with installing plugins or code errors. Thanks John, you helped me start pursuing my passion, programming.

This is very very basic. It should be labelled that it is for python beginners. Also the code quality is quite bad: - does not respect python standard coding style - the nested loop in the sample app is a terrible way to do things - the abusive casting to floats etc.. etc..

Good course overall, it delivers what it promises. I am a big fan of project based courses where at the end you can have a sense of accomplishment once you finish the work. Clear sound, the instructor seems knowledgeable, responded super fast to questions. Another nice thing was that the instructor seemed cheerful throughout the course and kept me engaged! (you'd be surprised at how many other instructors on udemy sound dull and completely boring..!). Luckily, this was not the case with John! Could do with a little bit of polishing here and there in some explanations, but overall a good course and good instructor! Recommended!

The main reason I gave a 5 star rating was because John did exactly what the course said it would do , build a crypto currency portfolio app. and in doing so you learn how to apply logic to you code , it was short but touched on most of the aspect of python[calling API, list, dict, variables, function creation, function calling, looping, tkinter and so on]. you got to build along with him and not just download a folder with all the codes in it where you end up doing a lot copy and paste job, instead of coding. he built the app as basic as possible but lets you know you can enhance it and even gives you hints on what possible enhancement could be done. for me the course along me think through the process and apply logic. Most people can read python codes, but not all can build with it, this course taught me how to build with python. P.S John responds fast to questions

Love the teaching style, extremely engaging. Getting to see the whole thing even with mistakes and tests etc. instead of just cutting constantly to different clips really helped to understand how to think while coding your own way and building something. Course is short enough where it will keep you interested the whole time and long enough with enough information where you're interesting in moving forward your own way. Would recommend some python experience even if it is just knowing the basics.
