This is one of the most popular C courses on Udemy, with about 193,000 students and over 41,000 reviews, and it comes from Tim Buchalka's Learn Programming Academy with Jason Fedin doing the teaching. Twenty sections and 150 lectures cover the whole beginner path: setup, syntax, variables, control flow, arrays, functions, strings, debugging, three sections on pointers, dynamic memory, structs and file I/O. The pitch is total beginners, but reviewers keep saying it suits people who have coded a little before, because it moves into detail quickly.

The praise is consistent: reviewers call it thorough and like that it explains the reasoning and some history behind each feature. The complaints are just as consistent. The lectures lean heavily on slides, and several students wish he would open the IDE sooner and talk less. The 16 quizzes are described as gotcha questions by more than one low-star review. There are no coding exercises, only a handful of challenges, so practice is on you. One reviewer found the audio uneven, and another could not get the Windows 11 install steps to match the current tool websites, even after the April 2025 update.

Value is fair for just under 26 hours if lectures over live coding suit the way someone learns. The rating breakdown backs the mixed picture: about 85 percent of ratings are four or five stars, but the one and two star reviews keep coming back to slides, quizzes and thin practice. An Advanced C course is the obvious next step, and at least one reviewer plans to take it. Anyone who wants a code-along style may do better with the C Programming Bootcamp listed beside it. For a careful, explanation-first grounding in C, this one is a solid choice.

I'm probably not giving this a full 5-starts yet because I don't know how to properly rate things, but this is actually a really, REALLY good online course for if you want to learn and understand C. I highly recommend this course to anybody who wants to get good at using the C language.

The course contains useful information, but I don't think it's well-suited for beginners, despite the title. The quizzes often feel more like "gotcha" questions than genuine assessments of understanding. In many cases, they seem designed to catch learners on technicalities rather than reinforce practical concepts, which can make the learning experience frustrating. I'm about halfway through the course and plan to finish it because there is still value in the material. However, based on my experience so far, it's not a course I would recommend to others, especially those who are just getting started.

This was a brilliant introduction to C! I had zero previous knowledge (other than using Python) and the instructor takes you through every concept in detail. I particularly liked that the his commentary felt natural and you can tell he really knows what he's talking about. On to the Advanced C now :)

Great to get an overview of C, which was my exact purpose in taking this course. However, I feel like there's not enough exercises or challenges to work through on your own and there's too big a reliance on slides instead of real-time coding, which in my opinion is the best way to take these online courses.

It's worthy to buy the course which includes loads of details and the explanation are also in depth with examples of each and every concept. Last but not the least.... There are also quiz after every concepts which do checks that how much have we understood by the previous lectures we have attended. It's a complete satisfactory course!!
