A 44-hour beginner course in C, taught by Vlad Budnitski, that leans hard on practice. The syllabus shows 396 lectures across 32 sections, and about a third of those sections are exercise blocks with full video solutions, so the pitch is do the problems, then watch him solve them. It's aimed at absolute beginners, college students taking their first C class, and embedded or cyber folks who need the basics without the fluff. Around 86,000 students have enrolled, and the 4.5 rating comes from more than 10,000 reviews, with just over half of them at five stars.

Reviewers praise the explanations. One five-star review credits the clear treatment of core concepts and the gradual progression from basics up to pointers and recursion; the animated illustrations the listing promises get no specific mention in the sample. The practice problems get credit too, with one student noting they don't click immediately but the instructor's solutions fill the gaps. The complaints come from people who already code. They call the pace slow, the exercises too easy, and the practice videos repetitive, and one two-star review says it is decent for complete beginners and not for anyone else. A Java developer also wished malloc and free were covered, and the syllabus backs that up: dynamic memory isn't on the list.

I am really glad I came across this course, the instructor explains things really well. I would advise you to watch other tutorials and then watch this because it helps you understand things better and also other tutorials might cover the 2-8% stuff that this course might miss or not cover in each chapter. This course is worth taking. Go for it

Good, but I think there are too much exercises. I know Java so I decided to skip some practice videos because it is too much repetitive. I guess you could explain malloc free and other functions that are part of the core of c.

good for beginner and for people like me who wish to revise C language (revisiting after some gap). The best parts are the exercise, and there are plenty of them. Just watching will not help, we need to code. IMO Improvement Areas: - the code is as per old C standard, multiple places we get compiler warnings eg get() cannot be used, we need to use fget(). - few exercises are left in between. eg the exercise in Interview Question, swapping 2 array in just one step (via pointers) is not executed and result not shown. A very important aspect that along with addresses we also need to swap the array sizes, else while printing we do not get the right answers is left undiscussed. - the quiz at the end is very elementary If a list of all the programming exercise can be provided as a downloadable resource, then that will be quite helpful

I really enjoyed this course; it opened up new ways for me to think about connecting problems to solutions. The only reason I deducted a half point was because of the course's length; I watched nearly all the lectures at 2x speed, only slowing down a few on topics like recursion and one or two others. As a Software Engineer with 15 years of experience, I took this course during my career transition from developing SaaS applications — such as Web APIs, Microservices (mostly in C# .NET Core), and front-end frameworks like Angular and Blazor — to embedded software development in C, C++, and soon Rust. I truly understand and appreciate your approach in teaching this course. You subtly guided us through the logic behind multiple libraries without explicitly telling us, which was a valuable learning experience. Though it was a bit tedious to work through all the examples and questions, thoroughly grasping the underlying logic was definitely worth the effort.
