Course Description

This is literally the ULTIMATE Calculus 1 Course!!!

Basically just,

1) Watch the videos, and try to follow along with a pencil and paper, take notes!

2) Try to do the problems before I do them(if you can!)

3) Try to complete the assignments. Solutions are included to every single assignment and in some cases the solutions are very detailed.

4) Repeat!

If you finish even 50% of this course you will know A LOT of Calculus 1 and more importantly your level of mathematical maturity will go up tremendously!

Calculus 1 is an absolutely beautiful subject. I hope you enjoy watching these videos and working through these problems as much as I have:)

Note this course has lots of very short videos with assignments. If you are trying to learn calculus then this format can be good because you don't have to spend tons of time on the course every day. Even if you can only spend time doing 1 video a day, that is honestly better than not doing any mathematics. You can learn a lot and because there are so many videos you could do 1 video a day.  Good luck and I hope you learn a lot of math.

The Math Sorcerer

I was born on a small unnamed Island in the Pacific Ocean inhabited mostly by natives who practiced mathematics on a daily basis.

My mother was a witch who specialized in Calculus and my father was a warlock who was well versed in the dark arts of Algebra.

As I grew older so did my thirst for knowledge, and so I set out on  a long voyage to improve my mathematical skills. I traveled the world for years and learned a great deal of mathematics, but it wasn't until I met that raging Hobbit that my true powers started to show.

I am here today to share my magical powers with you.

Come join on me on this journey as we explore the world of mathematics together.

This is honestly the most useful course ever. I regularly cannot seem to learn from videos, but this is definitely the course to take if you're a "hands-on" learner, as it can break down the concepts to appeal to that demographic! :)

The Math Sorcerer is huge on YouTube, just found out he had courses on Udemy. His teaching style is amazing, very intuitive and easy to follow, even harder concepts (as someone who never cared for math until now at university). He goes straight to the point without jargon but still manages to explain clearly, it's amazing.

Very easy to understand, helped me a lot to create a base before the class begin, is way more efficient than the classes and the books, but no that deep like a book, if your goal is have a great grade in the end, that is your way to go, i recommend a lot you watch it before de classes start, you will have a lot of room to take notes on things that you didn't understand in the course, i did it and i finished with a 10/10 in both exams!

A well-paced and comprehensive course for Calculus 1. I used it as a refresher course with emphasis on the fundamental proofs and formulas :) I would also recommend reviewing related Trigonometry topics for added understanding.

This course was fantastic, both while I was taking my Calc 1 course at school and then afterward for reviewing and filling in the gaps that my Calc 1 college course didn't cover. The method of pausing the video when the problem was revealed, working it out as best I could on my own, then unpausing to see how the Math Sorcerer worked out the problem was *incredibly* helpful. It felt like having an enthusiastic, encouraging, and non-judgmental tutor who was there to reinforce what I was doing right, show an alternative/more efficient/more elegant way of solving the problem, or show me how to work out a problem that stumped me. In other words, totally AWESOME. :) I've made a slow journey in my life so far from 1) feeling like I was innately terrible/hopeless at math, to 2) realizing that my actual problems were holes in my algebra foundations and believing that because I inverted numbers sometimes that I was innately terrible/hopeless at math, to 3) working to repair the holes and dispel beliefs plus experiencing the dawning joy of solving more complicated math problems, to 4) feeling competent and confident in what I could do mathematically and enthusiastic to learn more math! The Udemy courses from the Math Sorcerer (College Algebra, Trig 2, Calc 1 Lectures, and now this course) have brought me through #3 and solidly into #4, which has been simply a delightful experience. :) I highly recommend this course to anyone who might have been on a similar trajectory to what I listed above, to anyone who wants to learn/review a lot of Calc 1, and to anyone who wants to work through a lot of fun Calc 1 problems. (I'm sure there are other categories but this review is getting long, so...) Anyway, great course and amazing value! Thank you, Math Sorcerer! :)

Loved this course. I think MS's specialty is actually working the problems. He does so with ease, explanation, patience, and repetition which is great. Soon you're working the problems and hearing his voice in your head. I learned so much just watching him work through things! That's it, I hope this was helpful.

Excellent explanations and very engaging. This isn't your average youtube course or online guide to calc, it feels like all the problems he gives you are put in this specific order to help you not only learn the concept but also gain intuition/maturity with math. I didn't take notes at all for this course, I just worked through the problems with him that were shown in the videos and I cleared my own univ's college calc courses with what mr. math sorcerer taught me. Definitely worth the money and time. Thank you Math Sorcerer! -PT

Although most of the course is available on the tutor's YouTube channel, it is still one of the best Calculus 1 courses on Udemy. Love the enthusiasm, the explanation, the shortness of lectures, and the number of examples. I'd like you to add the Integration by parts section. Also, all the examples are very simple and straightforward. It'd be better to include, for instance, some really complex examples of integrals.

Excellent course! The Math Sorcerer is an excellent instructor. He explains everything clearly and in a way that you can fully understand. He has a knack for explaining difficult to grasp concepts. I decided to take the course as a refresher. It was a great experience. Highly recommend!

I found that the instructor for this course is very knowledgeable and explains difficult math concepts very well. I remember when doing calculus in high school I would have a really hard time trying to grasp a concept which would eventually take me upwards of 2 to 3 hours to understand. The difficult concepts that I've struggled with included the Second fundamental theorem of calculus and how to relate a riemann sum to a definite integral and others as well. I found his explanations to be very simplified and easy to understand for topics that I have already covered, so it was a really good refresher on math skills I was rusty on. I also noticed that I could easily understand topics that I haven't even heard of before; for me that was the Mean value theorem, Simpson's rule, Rolle's theorem, squeeze theorem and a bunch of other concepts. I thought he explained those very well and very clearly where I pretty much understood them on my first go. I really liked the consistency in the structure of the course, he followed a structure that is really easy to follow at least for me where he would first introduce the topic and give plenty of examples which I really liked since in the calc classes I took in highschool and college I found that the professor would spend too long talking about a concept and leave me with one or two examples and would not go over the tricky examples that require a slight manipulation. With that being said I also really liked that he showed proofs and explanations to certain formulas and concepts specifically with trigonometric formulas and the different important calculus theorems. I also liked that he gave some really handy tips to use whether that be calculating an answer without having to use a calculator if possible, or writing an integrand in a different way to make it easier to find the antiderivative, or just using important concepts from algebra and trigonometry to simplify a question. It was nice to see why things worked the way they do and I think he did a good job on that. I liked how the videos were very short and concise giving enough information to get the point across. Although I thought the course was very well there are some very minor pet peeves that I would like to address. I did notice that some topics that I have learned were not explained, this includes the change of variable method when calculating limits, integration by parts (not sure if this is a calc II topic but in school I was taught both IBP and U sub in the same class), l'Hopital's rule (might be Calc II concept) and inverse functions/horizontal line test. Take this with a grain of salt as I'm not too sure how exactly different schools teach calculus. For me this was not major as I was presented with new information that I wasn't taught in my calc classes. Very rarely I've noticed that when doing a practice problem he would introduce a new concept that he hadn't taught before such as the functions sinhx or coshx but he would explain how you would derive or integrate them while doing the problem so I guess it really isn't a problem, I just didn't like that there was no introduction to them. One topic that I thought wasn't taught very well is Newton's method. I would've liked it if he explained the theory behind it a little bit more or added more videos to explaining it. Take into consideration that these are just very minor issues that don't really have an effect on your learning of the math content. These minor inconveniences were relatively easy to ignore. TL;DR: Very good course to refresh your knowledge of calculus being taught by a very knowledgeable professor.
