This is the first of four domain courses for the CISM exam, and it covers governance only. It runs about 5.8 hours across 49 lectures, and most of that is one long section on enterprise governance and information security strategy. A 32-page study guide, 20-page quick sheets, nine mind maps and a short mnemonics sheet come with it. It follows the 2022 exam outline, which the listing says holds until the next planned update in 2027. The requirements assume basic IT and security knowledge.

Reviewers like how clear and concise the teaching is. Thor Pedersen gets credit for explaining the difference between governance and management, for pointing out what matters on the exam, and for study-strategy advice on time management and exam dates. One reviewer likes the extra notes and links. Complaints are mild. One reviewer finds the choppy speech cadence distracting, another wants more visual slides for dry topics, and a Spanish-language reviewer says some material, like NIST versions, goes beyond what the exam needs.

Great march through all relevant topics. But for these "dry topics" - which is not your responsibility - some of the slides might have been a little bit more visual to be grasped.

The voice of the instructor occasionally fades out and words or phrases are missed. Backing up the stream and playing again produces a consistent fade out of the instructors voice. The instructor gives a lot of additional details not on the slides. Good to have the extra information, but would like to see the information on the handouts.
