Our take
Based on the ratings of 15,994 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in June 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a lecture-based prep course for the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity exam, taught by Thor Pedersen. It runs about 19 hours across 150 lectures, with one section per exam domain: security principles, governance, access control, networking and cloud, and security operations. Domain recaps, exam day tips and two full practice tests round it out, and the listing also mentions a study guide, quick sheets and mind maps. It suits beginners heading for the exam, plus managers who just need the vocabulary.
Nearly 16,000 ratings average 4.7 stars, and most praise is about clarity. Students like the logical build-up, the summary at the end of each module and the real-life examples Thor uses. Several say they passed the exam after taking it. The complaints are consistent too. One reviewer found it boring and short on practical examples for a newcomer. Another called some material redundant. One one-star review calls the content and practice test outdated, saying under 20% of real exam questions matched it, and another says much of the content was irrelevant to the exam, even though the course was last updated in June 2026.
With about 82,000 students, it is a well-worn route to the CC. The length is reasonable for an entry-level cert. Expect lecture, quiz, repeat, so if you want labs, look elsewhere. If the goal is passing the CC on a first try, reviewers make a strong case. Treat the practice tests as a check on question format rather than a preview of exact exam questions.
Pros
- Clear, logical build-up that beginners say is easy to follow
- A summary closes each module and key themes repeat, which helps retention
- Two full practice tests and 24 quizzes to learn the exam question style
- Updated June 2026, and several reviewers report passing the CC after it
Cons
- Almost all theory with no labs, and one newcomer found it dry
- Some reviewers call parts redundant or off topic for the exam
- One reviewer found the practice test outdated, with under 20% matching the real exam
If you want to pass the CC on the first try THIS is the right course! The real life examples Thor shares are invaluable for fully understanding the concepts
All Levels is fair: no prerequisites, so it fits newcomers and managers, though it is exam-focused theory, not practice.

If you want to pass the CC on the first try THIS is the right course! The real life examples Thor shares are invaluable for fully understanding the concepts, and the two practice tests are vital for understanding the format and approach of the types of questions you will see on the exam.
By Rebecca Jensen on 6/19/2026
This course definitely helped me pass my CC exam! It was thorough but also provided great real life examples so that it was easier to undrstand, when coming from a non-technical background. Would highly recommend!

I passed the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) exam using Thor Pedersen’s course as my main study resource, and I highly recommend it. Thor explains concepts clearly and uses real-world examples that make difficult topics easier to understand. Rather than encouraging memorization, the course helps build the cybersecurity mindset needed for the exam. It’s an excellent foundation for anyone new to cybersecurity or preparing for the CC certification.

I just passed my exam today, I only took this course materials along with some practice tests. So, this course helped a lot in passing the exam. But I feel the actual exam is a bit more difficult than this practice tests
By Nabiha Zehra on 6/2/2026
This was a very good course covering all the domains but some basic and core conceprts could have been explained in more depth and easily like for some topics like OSI model and TCP/IP I had to go through multiple videos alondside udemy course and ISC2 material itself but apart from that it was a good course.
By Udemy User on 4/28/2026
Very clear and informative, much better than other courses. The study guide is very useful. As a person with no prior technological knowledge, the instructor is doing a very good job in explaining it.

Just finished my exam and I passed!!!! The course was really comprehensive and good overall. I do wish there were more practice tests included, although there are plenty of extra ones you can find online. The chapter summaries at the end were especially helpful for checking my understanding :) The actual exam is definitely more challenging, so make sure to practice as much as you can. Great course overall! Greetings from Mexico

It is a good match especially for someone who is new to cybersecurity. I would however suggest that the course some simulations to or rather with modules that do require some kind of practicality.
By Jess Dean on 3/31/2026
Great experience. The content was laid out well and easy to understand. I appreciate Thor throwing in the occasional extra bit you don't need for the exam, but will need in the workplace. My only complaint is that there is some content covered in the exam that is not touched on in this course. Not really an issue, as I think most people use more than one study resource, but it's the only tiny thing that keeps this from a perfect 5/5. Even so, I think this course alone would be sufficient to pass the exam, so it's a minor detail.
By Sudhanshu Singh on 2/26/2026
This is a very well-structured course for preparing for the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) exam. Thor explains the concepts clearly and the course covers all five domains in a simple and organized way. The revision sheets and the domain-wise revision lectures were especially useful for quick revision before the exam. While going through the course, at some places it felt like a bit of déjà vu because much of the content was already covered during my master’s degree program. However, there were still some new topics and even the familiar ones were explained from a different perspective, which helped strengthen my understanding. I printed the notes provided in the course and while watching the lectures I kept adding my own short notes and examples on those printouts. After completing the course, I attempted multiple full-length mock exams — the ones included in the course, additional mocks by Thor, and a few from other instructors on Udemy. On the exam day, I mainly watched the 5 domain revision videos and quickly reviewed my printed notes. The exam tips at the end of the course were extremely helpful, especially the point about the extra 25 questions in the exam. Knowing that beforehand really helped me stay calm during the test. Overall, a very helpful course for anyone preparing for the ISC2 CC exam.
