Course Description

The Classical Guitar Essentials Advanced Pro is the final course in this series. If you've been following the series since Part 1 The Basics, you've come a long way in your journey in learning Classical Guitar. Way to Go!

In this course we will finish off with 3 Masterpieces in the Classical Guitar world:

1. “Lagrima” by Francisco Tarrega

Spanish guitarist Francisco Tarrega is often called 'The father of modern classical guitar' due to his great influence on expanding its technique and repertoire. This piece is one of his most famous studies, sometimes they call it "Teardrop", and you'll know why when you play it.

This piece is in two sections: one in E Major, the other in E minor. There is much fingerboard movement and a lot of attention should be given to the left hand fingering, something we will discuss in details in the course.

This one is a MUST for any classical guitar student.

2. “Romance” (Anonymous)

This popular Spanish melody is one of the most recognizable melody for classical guitar. Although no one knows who composed it (Anonymous), it remains a beautiful melody and it demonstrates your skills in a lot of ways.

Written also in two parts, the first in E minor, and the second in E Major, it contains overall 7 Bar Chords which some requires wide stretches. Lots of dynamics and the use of vibrato in some notes will make this piece one of your favorite to play for yourself and your family.

This is where all the training on the bar chords will really pay off.

3. “Allegro” Op.40 No.6 by Mauro Giuliani

Less famous piece compared to the others, but still it contains double notes in 3rds and harmonized melody that will test your abilities on the fingerboard.

The technique of playing 3rds using guide finger on the first two strings, is a very new technique which we haven't discussed yet. So this one will be a new ground for you, and it will break the pattern of playing arpeggios and scales.

This final course is targeting the advanced/intermediate students who has been following me since the beginning. However, if this is your first course with me, make sure that you can read standard sheet music, as there are not TABS in the course!

We start the course with a group of scales and arpeggios, mostly 3 octaves to cover the whole fingerboard. These scales and arpeggios are from The London College of Music Grade 5 exam book. Also the three pieces we are covering here are from the same level. If you wish to take the exam, this course will help you massively to score Distinction, which is the highest score in LCM. But if you don't want to, the scales and arpeggios here will help you understand the pieces - and music in general - so you know what are you playing, and why the pieces sound like what they sound.

Also I included 2 other small pieces to help you practice and memorize the new scales that we are covering here. Playing the scales over and over will only help you develop your fingers. However, implementing the scales in your playing, this is where the small pieces will come in handy.

The pieces are “La Donna E Mobile” From Rigoletto, and “Humoreske” By Dvorak.

The course is rather short compared to my other courses, and the reason is that the pieces are really long (2 of them) and quit hard. Still you will learn a lot from them, and your technique will be enhancing dramatically.

I love Hani's courses - they have really set an excellent foundation for me to continue learning from - his approach is systematic and comprehensive; covering theory, technique, exercises, etudes and full pieces. He's also a gifted teacher who breaks his detailed explanations down into digestible pieces. And, if you have questions, he will respond to you in the forums. I picked up the guitar a few years ago after not playing for decades and never having played classical and I am now able to play intermediate pieces. And although I still have so far to go these courses have really opened a door for me. I regularly go back and review his prior courses because you can always get more from consistent review. I usually give Hani's courses 5 stars, but I gave this one a little less because I wish there was a bit more content - maybe a few more exercises. But it is still very valuable and I learned some new approaches to pieces I already knew. I'm now going to start his advanced courses and can't wait to see what I am going to learn there. I hope he continues to create more. And, Hani, you don't need to apologize for your English - it's excellent!

Already having some classical guitar behind me, I joined this series with course 5 of the 7, which was a bit of a guess as to the level I was at, but it turns out a pretty good one. These three courses have helped me progress from the "advanced beginner" plateau I was stuck on. I particularly love many of the pieces, particularly in courses 5 and 7, but that's not a criticism of level 6. Just the right amount of technical knowledge thrown into the mix too and the challenge was about right for me overall, with satisfying and motivating progression. I'm not convinced I'm really "advanced pro" level (!!!) but this course has definitely taken me a few more stops in that direction and I may well, after a break, go on to Hani's mastering classical guitar courses, as I enjoyed his style of teaching and it got results! Thank you Hani, if you read this.

Best course on guitar I've ever taken because of the step-by-step structure with songs to support the technique and theory. Nice that it follows the London School of music and I plan on taking those tests next as suggested.

Thank You so much Mr.Hani I started my guitar journey with you at the start of this series. I had no knowledge about the guitar or reading music and I didn't want to take guitar lessons because I prefer self teaching. So nearly two and half years ago I searched online and found your courses and followed the series since. Learning the guitar was a big goal of mine and with your help, knowledge and your excellent way of teaching. it's now a reality. I'm so happy with my progress and my knowledge about the instrument I feel like an expert now. also I'm happy with all the different pieces that I can play. so at the end, I promise that I will keep practicing and improving my repertoire. You are a great teacher you made me love this instrument. Thank you so much I wish you all the best and looking forward for your future courses.

A little sad it's over! But also happy. I love the three pieces we learned here and will spend next few weeks/months working on them. I started learning this series of courses on 15th of November 2018 with Hani's Classical Guitar Pt. 2 as I had started some basic classical music on my own but felt I needed direction if I was to get anywhere. If you don't have a good guide showing you the way it's easy to get lost. Hani has been a great guide! So here I am, a little over two years later (today is the 16th of December 2020) and I really feel I achieved something! Now I can teach my own granddaughter how to play the guitar.

I have not really finished the course yet but I am very delighted with this course. Meet my expectation. Looking forward to the acoustic courses too.

Another wonderful course from Mr. Gamal-a continuation of his clear, step-by-step comprehensive teaching-the perfect culmination of the learning from his previous courses-here Hani introduces more scales and pieces to study that reach up the neck of the guitar. All that was learned is put to play; you'll find such pride in what you've accomplished-challenges in this final course are within reach. Terrific teaching as always--I thank-you Hani for bringing classical guitar playing to life for me!
