Course Description

Modular Figure Drawing Course

Drawing is one of the most pleasurable activities, provided it is put across in an easy to comprehend, playful but yet well-structured way. After studying at London Metropolitan University in the UK and at the  Alanus University of Arts in Bonn Germany, I have been teaching at Art Universities and Art- and Design Schools in Germany and the UAE. This modular course is for beginners and reentries and for all those who  would like to know how to draw but have not found the right method yet.

I have put great effort in order to design this course with maximum simplicity,  accountability and pleasure. I draw everyday and I still love it, it is such a simple and beautiful passion which enriches your life not only in terms of a skill  - you learn to focus and you start seeing things other people don't see for there eyes are not trained  - it also helps  you to unwind  - and on top of that you don't have to spend a killing on drawing materials, you don't need a special place to draw, you can even draw in the underground or coffee places etc.

Above all it is a beautiful feeling to get better and better with your drawing skills – This Figure Drawing Course features reference photographs of fully nude models, which gives you the chance to draw alongside with me, while I'm explaining the process. Aim of this course is to enable you to do draw the human figure in various poses, with a secure, reliable and pleasurable method.

I'm excited to present my newly designed Figure Drawing course to students all over the world via the Udemy platform.

I 'm looking forward to meeting you guys – I see you in a bit . . .

Thank's a lot for your attention!

Hi there!

I have been working as a freelance artist and art tutor for many years. Currently I'm  teaching as a lecturer at the University of Augsburg. I hold a B.A. (Hons) in Architecture and an M.F.A. in art.

Over many years I have been able to gather a profound understanding of drawing processes through my own work and as a tutor in art schools and universities. I'm a passionate drafts man  constantly testing out new possibilities in the field of drawing. One of my prime concerns is how to simplify and improve the didactic process.

I have been teaching  students of all levels.

My teaching method  is very practical oriented "I try to break things down to its most simple elements and than build up the elements in a step by step process - in this way you will be successful " -

This course should be called “Complete Female Figure Drawing Course For Beginners”. While I appreciate the price point when compared to other figure drawing courses on Udemy, the course is incomplete. There are major differences when comparing male and female bodies that must be taken into consideration when figure drawing, and as a female I’m already familiar with the soft lines of the female shape. I am equally if not more so interested in learning the harder angles associated with the masculine form. This was a disappointing realization after paying for the course.

His approach to building a strong foundation for drawing techniques is fun, and just the right pace and approach. This guy is a teacher. Learning a lot of new skills. His accent trips me out in a good way. Fun guy to watch and follow along or simple techniques I often get lost in a find a page full of with a review waiting. Safe to take in chunks or bounce around classes and pick up anywhere for the most part to.

There was a lot of info on the materials foundation and it was hard to catch the brand names. A PDF handout to go with this module would be super helpful. Thanks!

Its quite concerning that this was originally listed for 60 dollars... The sections do not feel connected to each other AT ALL and they aren't really good explanations for stuff like shadow/gesture in a vacuum. Not much here besides a list of things to learn on your own which are frustratingly spaced over 10 hours... I don't like to hate but this was really disappointing and it feels like I got punished for trusting the instructor to actually use the techniques that he promises will be built upon.

I love this course so far. His voice is so meditative and the pace he has us going is perfect. I'm an experienced illustrator, but I'm on a quest to know how to draw in the classical style and perfect my understanding of anatomy. Even if I still do more illustrative/comic style, it's just better to learn from masters like him

It is an extraordinary course. I never thought to be able to draw figures in such an easy way. Books about figure drawing tell you many things except how to draw a figure from life or photo. Yes, once you can do what U do teaches you all those books are usefull. You know now! (I recommend it and I go to work on his second course: Get the hang on gesture. Thanks Udo. I´VE LEARNT A LOT.

Drawing the human figure always felt a bit discouraging for me. With this course Udo helped me not to regard the figure as a whole but seeing it as a structre of basic shapes everybody can draw. I work mostly digital but the analog approach was just the right way to get me started and I have no problems applying what I've learned in my software.

I really appreciate how patient the author is. It feels like he is giving you an insight to a wonderful world of craftsmanship. This is refreshing, specially in a world we are seemed to immerse ourselves into a digital world. Although Rutschmann's exercises could easily applied on an Ipad pad with an I-pencil as well. Great Value and feel privileged to learn a new skill. Thank you

I really enjoyed the course - the approach the instructor is using is easy to follow and very well-structured - Apart from that I enjoyed the different modules so far a lot - I still have a long way to go - but it is fun! 5 STARS for this course!

By Angie Rossel on 3/26/2021
