Course Description
GraphQL is a query language developed by Facebook to power their mobile applications. It's a replacement for traditional REST API's and is far more flexible and faster. With GraphQL you can query multiple resources with a single request to the server. Making it ideal for web applications and mobile apps.
It's very easy to write your own GraphQL API. It's compatible with any database and can even work across different database engines if required. Start now and have your GraphQL API running in no time!

Hi everyone, my name is Xavier. I'm really passionate about technology and I love to teach people new things. It's this passion that has led me to creating easy to follow video tutorials. I started out in 2016 with my YouTube channel and so far I have uploaded over 65 videos. I'm listing to everyone's feedback to improve the quality of my videos further.
YouTube is great for video, but it's not ideal for e-learning courses. That's why in 2017 I signed up for Udemy. My ambition is to bring some of my YouTube courses to Udemy for free and to create new series specifically for Udemy.
This is the beginning of a journey, so tag along!

Syntax user in the demos is a little out of date, and it would be nice to have the sample DB provided on the lecture about it since the creation of it is not covered. Otherwise, it’s a great overview of the tool, and was extremely helpful in getting me started on GraphQL

Great course, easy to follow whilst also explaining the concepts well. Be good if we knew the source code (basically just for the mock DB) were available to download before the end of the course! Also, watching you manually write all the imports / correcting syntax errors etc is a bit unnecessary. Overall great though!

If you came here wondering what graphql is and your looking for an intro and an app to build. This is the class for you. You'll get a full overview of what it is and how it compares to REST apis, queries, mutations and schemas. How to serve an api with express + graphql. How to use graphiql and how each piece works together. It's a great course for someone coming in with little experience. You need some JS and a bit of understanding about ES6 modules but with that you will be good to go.

It's a very good course for what it covers. You go from zero to hero with this one, but it doesn't cover every common real-world example. If the instructor could touch on authentication/authorization, client contexts and give some examples of connection to a real database, that would really round out this course.

I didn't know anything about GraphQL but felt it could be useful in my work. I was looking for a short introduction to the subject, and a springboard if it did indeed look compelling. Xavier's course ticked all my boxes and has me excited about this technology, too. Delivery was clear, precise and excellent in every way. Top job!

I was looking for a quick course to bring me back up to speed in GraphQL from my previous experiences and this was great. The examples are small and allowed me to type along and everything worked first go. I also picked up a few foundational points along the way. It would have been nice for the end example to use mutations as well but I expect that from my next work in the area. Great job.

I pointed only with 3 start because isn't is a complete guide of building GraphQL API. This course only learn to build a initial GraphQL API and I think that the tittle must be change to "Basic guide to building a GraphQL API". Otherwise the course are good, maybe i left more GraphQL theory, but is a good practical course and is recomendable.

Overall I fell that the course was a nice, very basic introduction to GraphQL. Do I feel like I could spin up a complex GraphQL API of my own with a real DB? No. This course is more like dipping your feet in the water rather than jumping in and swimming. That would be ok I suppose if the title didn't contain the phrase "Complete guide". I feel like after an hour or so of Googling I could learn the rest of what I really need to know to use this knowledge in the real world.

Xavier is one of the few people who has te unique ability to simplify and explain topics so you (i) get to understand them better (and quicker). I did research on graphQL before but after viewing this course it all got much clearer to me, thanks and keep up the good work!

Review after completing first part : I'm very happy of what I've seen so far. Very interesting course, pretty straight-forward without me having the feeling I'm missing something. I had some doubts about taking this course. I thought it would be for skilled webdevelopers. And since I'm a beginner, it scared me a little. But I really wanted to learn about GraphQL so I went for it. From the very first video on, I felt comfortable watching. I didn't have to rewind. Sometimes, you can watch a tutorial/guide video and you'll have to rewind all the time because you didn't understand well. So far, everything is well-explained by Xavier! Looking forward to the rest of the course! ----------------------------------- Review after finishing the course The review I wrote after the first part apply's to the rest of the course! After finishing the course I can honestly say I'm glad I took it. I learned a lot! I would recommend following this course to everyone who's serious learning GraphQL! I already took courses of people with + 40'000 students and +20'000 5-star reviews. Xavier is new to Udemy, but I'm sure he'll get a following in short matter of time. Great video! Great tutor! Looking forward to your work in the future!
