Course Description
In this course I review the basics of figure and portrait drawing in terms of gesture, action lines, foreshortening, value, edges, and details of the features. With the modified version of the "Reilly" technique used here, the subscriber/student will learn to draw a full figure or portrait in under 45 minutes from life or photographs on toned paper with less than six values using carbon pencils and white pastel chalk. To aid in learning this technique, two complete drawings (figure and portrait) are demonstrated with running description of the drawing process throughout.

This course covers all of the principles of figure drawing I learned years ago and needed to refresh. I really appreciate how Donelli DiMaria carefully covers all of the units and shows how to establish flowing form from the get-go.

I think so. I managed to do a pleasingly accurate version of the figure my tutor is using. I think my legs come up a bit short but that may be because my head is 2 inches from the top. I would be scared to start any higher. I think my problem lies in the length of the torso. but pretty good. The portrait was ok. I kind of de-proed it by using the blending stump. I guess it will take experience to discover where and how to get the best out of that particular tool. I'm a bit disappointed that the course only covered these two examples and that the tuition was only 1.5 hours worth.

Compared to the free version, this version has some variety and still completes other subjects about lines and shapes. Unfortunately the video quality could be better or recorded in a topview angle with better lighting but regardless, it's still worth watch it

It was a good course but honestly, I didn't learn anything new and I could have gotten this info free on YouTube.

i can follow along with the commentry nicely. It would be far better if I could see his pencil moving rather than his hand, but I realise this may be difficult to show, but perhaps not impossible

Strainght forward and to the point. Very specific guidelines to create what you are looking at on paper! Very helpful. He also seems very conscientious that we understand what he has been trying to teach us, and has a fantastic conclusion!

Probably I expected more tuition. It didn't seem to be for beginners and as somebody has commented, it's difficult to see what he's doing. Essentially, that's what I think...essentially. Hope I'll be able to review this comment in a few months.

Instructor shows how to divide face into thirds and how to proportion the parts of the face when doing a portrait. Explanation makes sketching easier. Summarizing course was also helpful in bringing to mind each step.

Great experience for a beginner like me to see such a detailed and informative teacher sharing more than just lessons with a student. Myriad of aspects of drawing and art work that complement and also enhance my other art classes. I am in awe of this teacher and his techniques in teaching how to create wonderful artwork. Thank you so much. I enjoyed every single lesson of this course and still learning and applying the teachings from this experience to my other courses.

The course can improve with supporting documents (models used in the drawings , displayed notes...)
