Course Description
At Home Engineering The Course has helped thousands of people worldwide to learn CAD and product design.
This is the course to learn CAD, product design, and engineering fundamentals. I have over 8 years of experience designing and building in industry and research, and I have a Masters of Science in mechanical engineering from the U of MN. I was a mechanical engineer at Google [X], and I've worked with multiple world-leading researchers in technology.
After taking this course, you will be able to make custom parts from almost any material, including metal, plastic, ceramic, and composites, enhancing you through tools and knowledge. Using modern, professional, and free tools, I bring together the best of the internet to get you designing and building in 2021.
You'll Learn:
CAD from the ground up. What CAD program to use, the 4 methods to draw any part in 3D, and bringing your product to motion
Simplified materials: How to choose materials for your designs, whether a metal, plastic, ceramic, or composite -- AND when to choose them.
The 6 manufacturing methods to produce any part. You'll also learn programs and websites to get your parts made. With these 6, you can command real parts from your computer to your door.
How to produce quality 3D images that can be used for marketing
Design a product! I take you through a design from idea to final design
Check out the course outline.
I don’t just teach you CAD, I teach you CAD mindset and methods when you are designing. I teach you the list of “need to know” manufacturing methods. I simplify materials for you, and give you go-to materials that will meet almost all of your needs.
The course is built to get anyone up and running, drawing parts in 3D in a CAD program, and getting them made. Whether you want to build an idea you have, sharpen your design skills or are new to product design altogether, this course will take you there.

I'm a mechanical engineer at X, Google's moonshot factory, where I design both big and small electro-mechanical products and assemblies on a daily basis. I've taken many designs from just an initial idea, to a realized product, in industry. I have both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Minnesota in mechanical engineering. I grew up building and designing..and I'm still doing it:)
I built this course because I knew how practicle my skills are, and I wanted to bring it to as many people as I could. I know how easily my skills at work, transfer to doing the exact same thing from home, and that anyone can pick them up. You can design and build literally anything from your home, and the professional programs required to do this, are completely free. So I spawned this course to help people, and I hope it does!

I am a product design student and for the first time i have come across a course which does not sound patronising for non-engineers and seems very interesting and easy to follow. Let's see how it goes further i've just started! Update:Enjoying it even more now!

Overall, I would recommend you have general knowledge of 3D modeling and Fusion 360 before diving into this course. The instructor will go through the processes quickly with what appears to be an older release of Fusion 360, and can be difficult to follow. I would like to have seen more online resources, information on tolerances, at least one more design from home, and even a video at the end showing a physical product having completed this entire process to manufacture from home.

As a new PCB designer, I learned that there is a definite learning curve. Anyone can autoroute a PCB. However, designers need training to make it right. This course covers mechanical CAD design and identifies free software. It moves at a reasonable pace and has good audio quality. The concepts are important. Learn them at home and impress an employer or customers later. Enjoy your investment in this course!

Well starter for a CAD beginner and also the clarity for home / hobbyist manufacturing. I recommend this course for people who want to learn about CAD without jargons and to manufacture with apt amount of knowledge required. Plus you can always build more on knowledge through more self learning. Good luck.

It was very informative and it gave me more information on CAD than I expected. It also simplified which CAD module I should use. I was curious to about Rhinoceros CAD and if it was essential to use for 3D modelling.

it's a good course. Especially for me as a student that just started in the product/industrial design world. This course will definitely give me a bit of an advantage then the rest of my class in term of 3D cad and the means to make it come to life.

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone on ground zero like me on product design and development. Good overview of the entire product design, dev and manufacturing process. Good job there Sam.

It will help a lot if you know basic music 360 before you sign up for this course. There are times that he uses clicks and combination of keys to do something (change view, shape etc) and I couldn't follow. I have to pause the video and find that out first. You should suggest to learn the basics of Fusion 360 before starting this course. Another thing is that he is a bit fast. I know it is a small course and you try to cover as much as you can but I would have liked it a bit slower. I managed to finish the light project after all.

Great overview right from the initial idea of a product, through design, sourcing components, creating awesome renders, then to actually having a physical prototype built! Superb watching, highly recommended!!
