Course Description

Conflict is a natural feature of human communication. Often we see conflict as negative, and it is true, conflict that is not handled well can have a devastating impact on staff morale and productivity, as well as customer-relations. However when conflict is managed well, it can lead to increased creativity and enthusiasm amongst workers.

This course is of immense practical value to you if you work with other people, whether colleagues or customers. You will learn how to identify conflict, and understand the different types of conflict that occur at work. There is a strong focus on practical skills to resolve conflicts. You will discover what your preferred conflict management style is, and the situations where it is most suitable.

I am a psychologist with experience in a range of challenging environments, as an employee and as a manager. Besides coaching and training, I have led on consultations, developed policies, and conducted research about motivation and work-related stress and burnout. I have also worked, and continue to do so, with different UK and US universities.

I have mentored tens of psychology dissertations, from undergraduate to doctorate level, both qualitative and quantitative. I have also published papers in peer-reviewed journals, using a range of data analyses. I believe that all students have the capacity to become good researchers, once they overcome the anxiety about research methods and/or data analysis. This is where I think I can offer a lot of value.

It confirmed my method of conflict resolution is a good method in the workplace. The course was very much a confirmation. Thank you.

The audio is abrupt and seems like there is missing content. The noise quality is low and could use a better microphone or environment. The speaker is understandable and enunciates well but seems like she could use a glass of water.

I am an HR Manager and need to find effective ways to identify and resolve conflicts in the workplace.

Many of the situations where i only got to see the end result, i am now starting to understand what the dynamics behind the start of the issue was.

By Regina Reke on 10/10/2019

Valid information, a good structure and overview of the conflict connected issues and especially practical techniques are very helpful.

By Наталья Пантле on 4/4/2019

The course helped me to organize the knowledge I had, and refreshed the most important points within conflict resolution process. Thanks

By James Owen Prayag on 3/25/2018

Refreshing. Good at a time when the workforce is changing. I have noticed conflict arising because of generation differences and inappropriate communication. This course corrects that.

By Paul Harris on 3/29/2017

The first part was a little dry. The part on hot buttons was interesting and the last part discussing actual methods to use was helpful.

By Mandy Agius on 3/14/2017

I found this course to be very interesting because most of the tactics mentioned, to solve conflicts at work, are so down to earth. The instructor was even reachable via email and Skype, and replied to any queries I had instantly and in a way I could easily understand.
