Course Description

Overcoming Difficult People - Assertiveness with Games Players

Regain control over Difficult People - a practical approach to using assertiveness when dealing with Games Players

Do you have difficult people in your life? People who make you feel insecure, angry, or undermined? People who you seemingly can’t ever say the right thing to do and always criticise or trap you? These people might be in your home or work life but I am sure you will know some! Overcome Difficult People is a practical programme designed to help you easily and calmly deal with Games Players using assertiveness, honesty and disarming techniques. My goal is for you to feel happy, confident and in control even in difficult relationships and manipulative interactions.

This programme uses 100% practical tools and techniques to help you conquer difficult situations. We look at 20 different types of Games Players (most of whom I’m sure you will have met during your life) and then 6 practical methods to disarm them immediately and regain your confidence and control. Being in a conversation or relationship with a Games Player is very circular, frustrating, and often hurtful, so this course will help you break that loop and finally feel calm and free! That annoying neighbour who won’t stop criticising you, or the frustrating colleague who asks for constant advice and then tells you none of it will work….? Yep - they’re all in the Games Player theory!

Games Player theory is entertaining and memorable - investigating negative manipulative techniques like Poor Me, Blemish, Mine’s Better, Only Joking and Sulking, plus lots more. We look at family dynamics, aggression, and reasons why perfectly good people might play games… possibly even you do without realising! Then we detail exactly what you can say or do: like how to be Assertive, ways to live with these people comfortably, how to play the game back (and better!), and more. Every single videos uses real life examples and give practical tools you can use right away to regain control against manipulative conversations.

I've learned so much! This is a fantastic course. I didn't realize how many games me and the people around me plays. Now I understand, why I feel sometimes awkward in some situations - and hopefully can change it. Thank you very much!

I am currently dealing with an employee who is a handful. I have had experiences with several others whom I think of when learning the things I have so far. Also, I am re-evaluating myself as I go along. Very informative and helpful.

Absolutely loved the course. I tend to be pretty critical of Udemy courses but this one hit the nail on the head. Great speaker, engaging content, all without any real visuals other than text--and yet he still keeps your attention. It definitely helps if you are interested in psychology already. I found many of the examples and frameworks were familiar. I would probably say of 10+ courses I've taken, this one will have the biggest practical application in my life. Simply recognizing human behavior, and consciously choosing how to react to it is powerful stuff. My one observation is not so much about the course, but simply that in real life, even healthy assertiveness can easily backfire. There are many situations that simply will not allow for the idealized conversations presented here. Sometimes the only solution then is to avoid these gamey environments and people--for example, don't work for businesses that require you to be a passive doormat without any assertiveness.

The presentation is excellent, like a very good recording. The course will also be helpful, but ofcourse it will depend on your further efforts. I wish there was a bit more extensive overview in the resources, like how PAC interactions relate to the triangle. I think it's a good idea for the student to study one game per two days. And think or meditate about it.

Wish I heard this 30 years ago in 1991 when I was 20 years young, it would have saved me decades of putting up, tolerating and living with nasty people. The course already made a difference the very day I stared listening. Knowing about assertivenes would have dramatically improved our living standards. I could have helped other people who was struggling in similar conditions. Thank you Chris! I'm siging up for your other courses. BTW, you sound like a bloke to enjoy a coffee with, like a best friend already!

This course is putting some things in perspective. It was full of 'a-ha' moments for me although the information doesn't really seem new. It seems like it was always there in my head, but never quite so clear and structured.

I enjoyed listening to Chris's wisdom. Visuals can be used to convey the presenter's ideas. Small skits in video format with role plays can compliment Chris's lectures and help the learners, to relate to the various games described.

This course can, without a doubt, give you a better understanding and therefore create a plan with new tools on hand to change your comportment vis-à-vis the Game Player. It will make your life easier in choosing different strategies to the people in your life and work. Not a boring moment in this course so many thanks, Mr. Chris Croft.

At first I thought ok, not another TA course with little practical value, but than I realized: this course is different. The tutor shares a lot of his personal experience and gives great examples. He is an entertaining speaker and the course materials are wonderful. I really enjoyed this experience!

Absolutely wonderful and useful course. Games are all over in our lives. It is great to see how some of them are nicely put together, following the Eric Berne' famous book, in this course. I found it motivating also as in many cases people just walk away feeling damaged and not able to face a natural games player anymore. Of course, sometimes walking away is the best rational choice. However I like how Chis introduced the games solutions as fun (on the surface). So for me the main take away is to deal with games as something which can "spice up your life" and make you feel more in control. It is important also that Chis gave various solutions which promote thinking and make you want to find your own solutions if there is a need. I highly recommend this course to anyone who enjoys productive communication and would like to minimize the "hammer on head" effect which sometimes happens while dealing with certain people who leave us puzzled wondering what just happened. What happened was a game. So it is great to know that these games even have names. No matter how big is the life experience it is still cool to go through the basics of mental games.
