Our take
Based on the ratings of 35,999 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in May 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short, beginner-friendly introduction to selling, built around a simple sequence: build rapport, diagnose what the customer needs, prescribe a solution, handle objections, then close. The syllabus runs about 2.6 hours across 40 lectures, and most of them are only a few minutes long. Chris Croft, a UK trainer with an engineering and MBA background, frames selling as helping rather than pushing. That suits newcomers, career changers and people who only sell now and then, such as in a job interview or a customer-facing role.
Reviewers mostly praise how clear and practical it is. Phrases like easy to follow, straight to the point and simple strategies turn up in the sample, and a couple of people say Croft teaches from his own experience. Of 35,999 ratings, about 59 percent are five stars and about 32 percent are four. The complaints are small. One reviewer wants more theory material on planning and mapping, another said half the session would not display, and three-star ratings make up under 8 percent.
Depth is the trade-off. The prescribing section is two lectures and six minutes, and there are four quizzes but no assignments, so practice is up to the learner. The syllabus also lists a 43-minute bonus section called Latest Content Updates, and the course was last updated in May 2025. It is short enough to finish in an evening or two, which makes it a sensible first step before a sales job or a big customer meeting. Experienced sellers will want something deeper.
Pros
- Clear flow from rapport to diagnosing, objections and closing, easy to follow for newcomers
- Short lectures and 2.6 hours in total, so it is easy to finish in a couple of sittings
- Croft draws on real experience, and reviewers call him a great teacher
- Rated 4.7 from nearly 36,000 reviews, with about 59 percent giving five stars
Cons
- Introductory only: the prescribing section is just six minutes across two lectures
- Four quizzes and no assignments, so practising the techniques is left to the learner
- One reviewer wanted more theory on planning and mapping, another had playback trouble
It was a fantastic course, very useful and straight to the point, it may was the best 2h course i ever has on udemy.
Listed for all levels, but it fits beginners and occasional sellers best. No experience or equipment needed.

this is actually really good. He explained the new way of selling verbally in todays world which is building a relationship with the customer. Then that's when they inquire the customers about their needs.

I really enjoyed the course. It was informative, easy to follow, and gave me a better understanding of sales techniques and how to communicate effectively with customers. I learned a lot of useful skills that I can apply in real-life situations. Overall, it was a great learning experience and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Well for my first foray into understanding sales and marketing this was an interesting and educational watch which helped me understand the basics which I found helpful and can use in my role.

This course was very good overall, especially because it does not contain any inappropriate images. The only issue I noticed was with the final video in the 2025 update, which contains a few points that may not be consistent with all scholarly opinions.
By Manas Ranjan Dhal on 7/8/2026
It's a really good course for someone who is starting out with sales training and wants to know sales. It comes with a role-playing strategy which helps us apply our learnings, and I would give it a five out of five for all the content it has covered. Maybe it is not completely up to date, but it's a must to learn all of these things.

Thank you so much, Chris! This was a really concise and excellent short course on sales. It walks through the entire sales process and covers most of the key points in a clear and practical way. I especially appreciated learning a systematic approach to the sales process, which made the concepts much easier to understand and apply. Overall, this was a valuable course, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a solid introduction to sales.

This training course is really great. I learned some practical techniques, even though in my country, price reductions (discounts) are the key to closing a sale. Thanks to this “peeling the onion” technique, I can at least keep the price steady. Thanks also for the tip about lighting when using the zoom. Thanks again.

I enjoyed the course, I wanted to refresh knowledge and see if I could find similarities on how I di my job and I did, many. I think it applies well in most types of sales.

Thank you for the insightful info. Right now, what I am selling is security guard services. Any tips for when I go to site visits or when I have meetings with potential buyers? Please let me know, I will be scheduling a 1 on 1 booking to pick your brains. Thanks Prof. Croft!

I got a lot of amazing value from this course. Some of it is not really applicable to entrepreneurial cold calling, however I got a lot of insights which directly translate to my field of expertise and I really appreciate this course and I really think it's useful for anyone who's looking to get their foot in the sales.

Chris Croft knows what he is doing. His Cambridge education style is amazing to me. The examples, the humor, the analogies, and structure are excellent. what else to ask for! The guys is an expert in his field
The Brits overall are excellent tutors compared to other nationalities in my opinion.

I know that closing is very important when the sales pitch is over.
