Course Description

Intel XDK and Ionic form the best combination for building cross platform mobile apps.

You may wonder why to build cross platform apps using Intel XDK and Ionic. Well Phonegap is an Intel XDK alternative and jQuery Mobile is an alternative to Ionic.

The main benefit of creating apps using Intel XDK is that you don't need a MAC and also you don't need to install eclipse, XCode and Visual Studio to test apps. Intel provides its own cross platform emulator and also a cloud binary build. XDK let's you test the app on a real device without install any other software. This is just couple of the lots of features provided by Intel XDK.

Ionic framework is the most trending topic among developers at present. It provides the best UI for creating mobile apps.

In this course we will only learn design components of Ionic as we we will using Intel XDK to test, build, debug and build the app.

Creating hybrid mobile applications is a great way to leverage your knowledge of web languages like HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. Modern frameworks such as AngularJS and Ionic make it easier with pre-built templates and components. In this course we will teach the core Ionic components: pre built, easy-to-use features such as buttons, lists, tabs, and forms. Then Ray shows how to combine these components with AngularJS models, views, and controllers to build a single page app with sliders, pull-to-refresh functionality, and search.

The presentation is not engaging and the way of teaching is not interesting at all.

Out dated. Lot of mistakes. I was not able to finish the course because there where to many mistakes in the examples.

Very good course although the Cordova plugins section needs updating as very confusing and not even sure if mine is working correctly now. Using XDK 3240. Very useful course though all the same. Have to say very disappointed with the stability of Intel XDK though.

A versão do XDK já está um pouco antiga e o tutorial não terminou o desenvolvimento do Todo App.

The teacher doesn't respond our question...this is the only down side......

This course was very good value for money! There are two separate tutorials, the first using the Intel XDK built-in HTML designer, the second using the Intel XDK as the editor for an MVC Ionic app development. The content is very detailed, but still lacking a bit of explanation for beginners. It shows how to use the tool, but not so much the concept of the Ionic/Angular MVC. There is a lot of code presented and the apps are quite complex for this type of tutorial, and the code seems quite robust. There is too much code to be transcribed in my opinion and I began to lose interest early into the second tutorial, especially when a typo stopped my code from working and I couldn't find it in my code. Unfortunately there is only code available for the completed apps, I would have given 5 stars if the progressive code was available to copy and paste into my apps. It would have saved me typing, and prevented typos! It would also help if the author provided answers to questions. But for $20, it is a great course. I am now working my way through some Ionic tutorials that are available on-line to fill in the gaps missing from this course.

Speaking slowly can be an advantage but, at times you type fast and/or you cut and paste to make your point. I found XDK a few years ago and recently, I just learned about ngCordova, Angular and Ionic. I took this course to get the details of how all these techologies merge. When you were manually integrating the ionicframework into XDK, you took the library code from non-standard ionic site. This does not give me a good foundation of the libraries. You can either show me where to get the correct source library or have your own "starter" files. having a tutorial that takes code from different git sources is not a good way to go because these libraries will become outdated as time moves. After going through the tutorial, I actually downloaded and tried your code but, I have to go through xdk (ver 2893) upgrade and lots of ngCordova plugin will not work. I tried contacting you but, looking at the messages, it seems there is no support to come by. The messages are 5 moths old without any reply from you. I originally gave you a rating of 4 but, now I will have to change it because of these new issues found.

Was great get this course

I just finished the course and I really enjoyed it. You need to already know Javscript and better if you already know Angular and some Ionic. But the idea of using Intel XDK to develop Ionic based apps is very good. The tips and tricks really useful. I particularly liked the approach of developing the contact app from scratch without any "Ionic" template as this helps you be in full control (and understanding) of the app architecture and workflow.

I recommend this course for native app developers to learn how to hybrid app development.
