Docker Mastery: with Kubernetes +Swarm from a Docker Captain (Udemy.com)

The course overall is a mixed bag for me. The course is very tedious to go through and is not very beginner friendly. My main gripes with it are how overwhelming it is and how outdated it is. While the concepts do make sense, there is a lot of information and technical minutia that causes information overload and has caused me to lose interest in the course several times. It's not helped by the fact that the course's presentation isn't very great either with mostly just PowerPoint slides and typed out commands without much hands on learning, with so many technical concepts that, while do deepen the understanding of what's going on in the backend, ultimately make the whole thing so much more confusing, bloated, and intimidating to understand. It also isn't useful how the course appears to be quite outdated. Several times throughout it there are short 1 minute prerequisite readings that state that something used in the lecture is outdated, such as what version of an image to use or the lecture outright uses some software that is outdated and just gives you an alternative without any real meaningful guidance on how to use that alternative. The breaking point for me was with trying to set up a Swarm using Multipass, which was such a headache to get to work since all the course says is "just use Multipass" without any sort of guide on how to get it set up. That is really not good for a beginner; I ended up having so many technical difficulties trying to get it to set up that I ended up just mindlessly watching the entire lecture section without any hands on coding whatsoever. It just feels like the bare minimum was done to try to make it appear that the course was up to date. This was around the halfway point of the course, and now I just fear that I may experience the same thing for the rest of it. Although I have to give credit in that clearly the instructor is very much an expert in the matter. I have no doubt about that in my mind; I just wished he kept the course a bit more friendly to complete beginners. At the beginning of the course, he did do a very good job with introducing the fundamental concepts, but I did begin to lose track of it as I kept going.

It was a really great and informative course! It gives a nice overview of the most important Docker- and DevOps-related topics. Docker itself is explained and covered in an excellent and very detailed way, but other DevOps topics like container orchestration (especially Kubernetes) are discussed a bit superficially, more at a "scratching the surface" level - which makes sense, as it's not a Kubernetes course. Overall, it is an excellent starting point if you want to dig deeper into Docker and the world of DevOps.

course has been great so far sometimes these concepts can go over your head especially not coming from traditional tech background, my recommendations is to go over it over and over again until it clicks it gets easier over time especially after you initialize the first few sections and you understand the general concepts of containers and images

In 2026, the course is good for the theoretical parts (Docker, k8s, tips&tricks, etc.); the theory is a golden classic that must be learnt by everyone. But, here goes a mega but, since this course is called a mega course, the practical part is mid. However, I expected this course to be more technical, with less talking. 70% of the course is worth your time. No offence to the author, but this course needs restructuring and continuous updates to keep up with the new industry standards. Simply add a new project (small-middle) and explain how to deploy it using Docker/k8s and CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab.

Lecture is easy to undertand so far and it has hand-on to practice what has been taught. However, as the play-with-docker free resource is not available since March 1st, 2026, it would be better if there are other solutions as a replacement. --- 2026/5/6 Updaed I have completed more than half of the sections now and just came back to share more feedback. This course is definitely easy to understand and I am afraid the best Udemy course I could ever find. You have many chances to build resources with command lines by yourself first, and then dive deep to what you just did. I really appreciate this course.

I really like the deep dive into DevOps Workflow, Github Action to automate everything and implement the infrastructure as code mindset. Also I appreciate the Kubernetes section, which shows the possibilities of a high frequency updated distributed system, which is managed in a declarative fashion in the infrastructure configuration files. This really opens up a new world of managing robust highly available software.

This course is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn Docker in depth. It not only explains how Docker works, but also the reasoning behind its design, when it should be used, and when it may not be the best solution. The instructor provides clear explanations and practical examples that help build a solid understanding of containerization concepts. Highly recommended for both beginners and developers looking to strengthen their Docker knowledge.

This has been a fantastic course. I have a few years of experience building and running containers with Docker, and about a year and a half of experience running Kubernetes at home using microk8s. Being self-taught and picking things up through experience leaves gaps, and I've been learning new information throughout this course.

Loving the course. I have completed other docker and kubernetes courses and never taken this to the next level, but this is so easy to follow (so far) that I am already itching to get further ahead and start to use this.

So far the course has been "meta-info" about docker and the personal anecdotes or the instructor and his career. I personally prefer concrete information and definitions like "docker is a container host" and "a container is a file-system".
Edit: I would like to add that I was prompted for a review during the first section and had (wrongly) assumed my review was for that section alone. My personal preference is to begin learning a new topic in a different manner. That said I am in section 7 and both enjoy the course and think it contains all of the technical information I was searching for.
