Peter Alkema

"What an amazing course! After finishing this course, I have confidence. Thank so much Dr Peter Alkema" ... "This is exactly the jump-start I needed. Very clear and concise"

I lead Digital Transformation & Architecture at ABB and I've been featured on CNBC Africa and won the Gartner CIO Of The Year in 2016. I founded and led the largest banking hackathon in South Africa which was published in 2019 as a case study by Harvard Business School.

I've taught over 100,000 students about technology, business, academics and self-development. In 2020 I completed my PhD at Wits University In Johannesburg. The study introduced a ground-breaking theory of Agile software development teams. My woodworking book was published in 2014 and has sold over 10,000 copies.

Olugbenga Gbadegesin: "Excellent delivery" / Lebogang Tswelapele: "This is what I have been longing for" / Paskalia Ndapandula: "Peter speaks with so much clarity" / Amantle Mangwedi: "It was straight to the point and the sections are cut into nice short segments which made it easier to go through" Kathy Bermudez: "Excellent material. Well organized..."

Werner van Wyk: "Thank you Peter, once again your lesson and course have given me so much knowledge and understanding" / Yvonne Rudolph "I really look forward to take everything i learned in action" / Josephine Mahlangu: "exactly what I needed to know, absolutely valuable and helpful for my personal growth"

The first four sections present valuable concepts but once you get to the webinars it goes downhill. The pre-evaluations expects you to know small and unimportant details such as "What festivity is mentioned at the begining of the video?" or "What was the speakers first job?". First of all, I don't know, I haven't seen the videos yet. Second and most importantly, what does that contribute to my knowledge on Agile leadership and corporate Scrum? And even though they are presented as optional you have to sit through the interviews twice to finish the program.

This course is captivating to me as it takes leadership training to another level way beyond my preconceived notions. With is this course, Peter brings diverse aspects of leadership to students. I definitely learn a lot and may want to go over the course material again.

By Danny Miller on 6/16/2022

What a crock! What was the point of Section 5 chapter 18? I've graduated years ago. Stop the cross-selling. I get it, you have a PHd. You have said that over a dozen times throughout the course. I have learned NOTHING from this class. Udemy needs to audit the classes, so others won't be duped into a waste of time.

Great lecture, learned a lot. My one complaint is the sound quality between videos. The progress updates throughout were A LOT louder than the lecture videos and it was not a pleasant experience with earphones in. That being said, I did like the aspect of being updated on your progress throughout the course to let you know where you were at. Nice touch, but just too loud.

By Heinz Holzapfel on 7/3/2020

The content is good; however, the presenter could be more animated due to a very monotonous tone. Exemplars of the principles and 'lessons' would add a richness to the good content.

By Mfanafuthi Perfect Khumalo on 7/2/2020

Yes this is a real good course, all information mentioned relates to my past experience and more to my current role, so I am now more informed and prepared to face my projects tasks.

By Greg Frost on 7/1/2020

A really nice intro to Agile. I particularly enjoyed chapter 6. In fact, I'd start with chapter 6- making a strong case for Agile, and then follow on with Peter's practical, sage advice.

By Kim De Gregorio on 7/1/2020

I am an experienced Agile coach and wanted to get a view of Peter's approach to introducing the topic to leaders. Peter does an excellent job at introducing complex concepts in a simple way for leaders. Highly recommend as an introduction

By Adriaan Jones on 7/1/2020

I thoroughly enjoyed the content and the reminder that agile can be implemented in large or complex projects in an agile manner. The course itself is a clean introduction and overview of agile for management or anyone not familiar with the world of agile software development.

By Vernicia Pillay on 6/29/2020

I enjoy the instructors use of actual work experience and the fact that his able to accept errors made. I am also enjoying the management style. Micromanagement being one of my pet gripe and I can admire anyone who is open minded enough to allow people to assist them in achieving a common goal.
