Electronics — for Complete Beginners (Udemy.com)

I enrolled on this course because i had no electrical background and though my job is primarily telecoms and networking, It became evident that my lack of certain principles and concepts left me confused and effected my fault finding. My company does not offer any specific training on this subject and I was getting piecemeal information of more expeienced engineers. Although this course states it's for absolute beginners, I was initially getting confused with the equations. Since applying myself and taking notes and even setting up experiments around this course, I have found that it now sinking in and I am already understanding how systems are working in my job role and think this is a great course from a very experienced head. Really enjoying it and finding it edifying. This will help me to become better at my job.

This guy is a legacy teacher. He genuinely knows his craft and his delivery is profound. It's a shame that he isn't still around to keep putting out more courses. I'm going to miss him even though I just got to know about him through his course

I sincerely enjoyed Gene and his way of presenting. With a historical aspects to many of the lectures it kept my curiosity peaked. The course, i think, takes quite a steep incline in difficulty around section 4-5, which can be a bit demotivating. In addition it is a little bit hard to keep track when going through some of the visuals, like the circuits, graphs and diagrams, especially in the later sections. Due to Gene only being able to talk and not really point and show. So some animations or something would help. Nevertheless a great course which gives a good overview of beginner electronics.

The heavy weight mathematical work has been smoothed over to concentrate only on what is needed to understand the working of electrical circuits. This makes this course perfect for people like me whose aim is to understand the basics of practical electronic systems prior to starting off a higher electronic course.

The course is rather comprehensive that covers the very basics of electricity, charges, etc., to "modern" designs and applications of integrated circuits. I personally found that the lectures were generally logically presented and easy to follow from the very beginning all the way to the earlier sessions on semi-conductor. Thereafter, I did find it hard at times to follow and I had to do extra reserach to fully understand the materials discussed. Nevertheless, this course provides a very good framework for the learning of basic electronics, and the accompanying projects are indeed very helpful in my opinion. Thank you Gene.

I used this course as a refresher for existing but fragmented knowledge and it was brilliant. Gene is a great teacher and went into detail where it was needed and provided enough base where it wasn't. It is also very handy to have the great publications and articles in relevant places. Thanks!
