Course Description

[All source code has been updated based on flutter 3.x and flutter_bloc 8.1.4, lint rules have been applied, and class modifiers have been applied to state and events.]

To provide better service and improve communication skills in English, AI-dubbed lectures are added at the end of the course.  You can choose bsed on your preference. Thank you so much. I hope my lectures are helpful for you to expand your knowledge.

In the Flutter Bloc Essential course, you can learn in depth about Bloc, the popular Flutter state management solutions.

In particular, it covers only the most recent version, version 8.0 or higher.

If you want to deepen your understanding of the Flutter Bloc and put all the concepts into practice, then this course is for you.

The lecture was carefully composed to ensure a balance between theory and practice.

And under the belief that repetition is the most important learning method, whenever there is a new concept, we will test the concept by making a small app, and through real-world apps such as TODO, Weather, and Firebase Authentication app, the concepts will come together comprehensively.

In particular, we repeatedly practice the combination of Cubit and Bloc when creating TODO, Weather, and Firebase Authentication apps.

  • TODO App (4 implementations): 1. Combination of Cubit and StreamSubscription, 2. Combination of Cubit and BlocListener, 3. Combination of Bloc and StreamSubscription, 4. Combination of Bloc and BlocListener

  • Weather App (4 implementations): 1. Combination of Cubit and StreamSubscription, 2. Combination of Cubit and BlocListener, 3. Combination of Bloc and StreamSubscription, 4. Combination of Bloc and BlocListener

  • Firebase Authentication App: Cubit + Bloc + StreamSubscription

This is a quick look at everything covered in the course.

  • Cubit/Bloc concept

  • BlocProvider, BlocListener, BlocConsumer, RepositoryProvider, MultiBlocProvider, MultiBlocListener, MultiRepositoryProvider

  • BuildContext extension methods: read, watch, select

  • Passing extra information to Cubit/Bloc: function argument and event payload

  • Cubit/Bloc-to-Cubit/Bloc communication: StreamSubscription, BlocListener

  • Bloc Access and value named constructor: anonymous route access, named route access, generated route access, global access

  • Observing Cubit/Bloc

  • The Event Transformation feature of Bloc

  • Hydrated Bloc

  • TODO App: 4 implementations through various combinations of Cubit, Bloc, StreamSubscription, and BlocListener

  • Weather App: 4 implementations through various combinations of Cubit, Bloc, StreamSubscription, and BlocListener

  • Firebase Authentication App: Combination of Cubit, Bloc, and StreamSubscription

Sangwook Cho (YourDevEdge)

Founder of YourDevEdge | Flutter & Full-Stack Architect | 20+ Years of Systems Experience

I am the founder of 'YourDevEdge', an educational startup focused on full-stack development, and the creator of 'Heavy Fran', a YouTube channel dedicated to deep-diving into Flutter.

My journey into development wasn't a traditional one. After spending over 20 years at a leading telecommunications company, I pivoted to software development later in life. This unique path allowed me to bridge the gap between complex enterprise-level systems and modern mobile application development.

As a self-taught developer who has mastered numerous languages and frameworks, I know exactly where learners get stuck. I don't just teach you how to code; I teach you the 'why' behind the architecture. I understand the "loneliness of the long-distance learner" and the frustration of hitting technical walls.

My mission is to share the "small but crucial" details—the nuances of clean architecture and scalable design—that I've discovered through years of trial, error, and real-world implementation. If you are looking for a mentor who values systematic repetition, deep understanding, and practical know-how, I am here to guide you on your journey.

Consider this class "condensed" meaning it is packed with code that works. The downside - the instructor, who is very experienced, codes and talks too fast, can leave you in the dust. However, you can manage it by slowing down the speed to 0.75, taking time stamped notes (so you can go back and review), and use Git to commit/push your work as you complete steps. If you take steps like this you will be able to have a way to review the key principles latter for your own apps. In addition, the instructor introduces many tips and tricks along with way and these are worth taking note for your own apps.

Thanks to Sangwook Cho for creating the course. It's helping me a lot. Good points: - Updated contents with the latest API. - Repetitions make learning understandable. My Notes to new students: - Watch the overview first -> don't fully understand -> watch the Todo App -> Go back to rewatch the concepts in the summary to understand fully. - Code along as much as possible - Pause and research the concept that you may not fully understand. - Focus on the BloC, not others like design, app functions, context, etc. - Be patient. Next step? A new course or section that illustrates how to create real-world fully functional, product-ready apps that use BLoC?

Great course but your robotic voice is so weird. And your course doesn't cover the way to use bloc when you have an infinite scroll.

Learning BLoc through this course has been an amazing journey so far even though I was initially discouraged with the english pronounciation but it turned out that my ears adjusted to it and allowed me learn from the course. The course has a practical approach towards delving into BLoc and I recommend it for anyone who wishes to delve into BLoc

Much faster paced - a very good thing! - than lots of other courses I've bought on this site. I typically speed up the video to 1.5x or 1.75x which in this case makes things a bit hard to follow if you don't have a lot of experience; IMO it's still much better than the alternative of watching some other authors type the code we've seen several times already. The pronunciation is fairly flat so you may not notice some really useful tips given by the author; even if it seems a bit harder to understand, IMO the course is WELL worth it.

This course is pretty interesting, it teaches you a lot of different ways to implement blocs/cubits while maintaining a nice project structure. Since english is not the instructor's main language, it may get a little hard to go along with a few parts, but he added english subtitles which help a lot. The only thing that bothered me a little, is that he writes the codes and switch screens a little too fast while talking, since I'm fresh on flutter, sometimes I got a little confused. I'll read a little more about bloc on MY native language to complement what I learned from here, but thanks for everything Sangwook.

The best part of this lecture was that it allowed me to practice similar content repeatedly, which helped me quickly become familiar with the concepts. It is not easy to understand all the concepts after listening to the lecture only once, so continuous repetition was very helpful. It seems to be an unchanging truth that repetition is the best way to learn.

By App Queen on 4/29/2022

The instructor's teaching style is somewhat unique. In most of bloc courses I've taken, I felt that the explanation of the individual APIs in bloc was a bit lacking. However this tutorial was quite easy to understand because it explained the individual APIs in detail and created small apps that explains the APIs together. I refer back to it whenever I need to as I build my app, and it's been a huge help.

This tutorial made it easy for me to learn about bloc, which was difficult for me. Especially implementing the same app with cubit and bloc was very helpful. It would be difficult to say that version 9 is a breaking change compared to version 8, but there are various minor changes, so it would be better to update the lecture focusing on differences.
