Course Description

Master Gradle for Java and Spring Boot Development

What Students Are Saying

“This was an exceptionally good course! I found what I needed in the first 45 minutes, and I watched the rest just to make sure I had full coverage. I now feel completely competent in Gradle and have already converted three of my projects to use it. Everything is working surprisingly well. Good job!”
— Keith Swenson

“The course is very informative, and the fundamentals are explained clearly with real-world examples. The sections on multi-module Gradle projects and custom plugins are especially valuable for Java developers. The instructor’s voice is clear and engaging. Thank you!”
— Sunil Kumar

“I was waiting for Bharath’s Gradle course and purchased it immediately when it was released. I had recently joined a company where we use a large Gradle-based project, and I struggled to understand the build configuration. I read blogs and watched YouTube videos, but many concepts were still unclear. This course explained everything in a simple, precise, and practical way.”
— Saurav

Very good for the basics, good for advanced topics. I miss a few things required for my daily work: In maven you have dependencyManagement. Is there something equivalent in gradle? How to add a bom (how to use platform()) ? How to build a library (and how to add it to another project during development)?

By Claudio Andres Alarcon Reyes on 9/1/2023

The course is great as in introduction. However, it should also cover a bit of Kotlin and how this differs from Groovy language. Maybe I'm a bit out of the scope of the java projects, but I felt the Spring boot section longer than required.

Good course after which I knew how to navigate through gradle and do basic stuff. After this, I fell comfortable to explore gradle on my own now. I wish that later lectures focused more on gradle itself (maybe go a bit above basic stuff), less on various integrations with other tools which you need to install on your machine (or use docker). If you are not familiar with those tools you might not understand the value of integrating them. What could be done better is to revisit github repo and sync it with newer course material. All in all, good introduction to gradle.

Want to start working with Gradle, get this course first! A well rounded Gradle foundation course that suits both non-maven and maven experienced Java developers. It covers single project to multi projects build life cycle, testing, Sonar quality gate analysis and Jenkins based builds. Having a section about the development of convention using plugins would have made this course even more significant.

Gradle has evolved a lot and this course filled me in. I found Section 3 to be very tedious mainly due to trivial visual mistakes. * Use bigger font sizes for demos. The screen is so small it is hard to see exactly what is being typed in. There is plenty of wasted whitespace in the demos. * One letter variable names and lack of spacing makes his demos incredibly hard to read. * Demos are at the very bottom of the screen, hard to see with all of the video controls overlaying. Section 5 A small mistake, using the word for bracket when parens were meant. Font size is much better in this session. Section 8 No sample for CoupleServletTest implementations of doGet() and doPost(). In general, the course would be improved with more samples. Overall Negative: The scrunched up code style should not be used. Instead, standard spacing should be demonstrated. IntelliJ has a nice formatter that improves code readability. Overall Positive: It was a solid course and useful.

Before taking this coure, I used to copy and paste some build scripts without knowing much about the Gradle, cuz a lot of tasks were done very transparently. I now understand that it is nothing but a script for project orchestration, like using Makefile on a C project. You'll definitely be confident about the Gradle, understanding the build.gradle line-by-line, under Bharath's instruction. I loved learning with lots of simple, easy but meaningful examples.

Very helpful as a beginner to Gradle and moving from Maven to Gradle using java. Step by step course overview is very well structure. Resources and quizzes helped to review the course covered.

The course is awesome. It really helps to understand a lot of gradle concepts. It is easy to pass through if you already familiar with Maven. The cource is well structured and not boring. Quizes and assignments help to improve your skills and provide something new.

So far, I am using maven build tool for my project. Due to some requirement, I need to use Gradle instead of maven. I decided to go through this course and after completing this course, I am very much comfortable with gradle. Really want to thanks Bharath for this nice course with proper example and explanation. In a simple word "This course is awesome !!!"

By SauravB on 11/19/2020

I was waiting for Bharath's course on Gradle and when it came out, I purchased it instantly. I did not even hesitate once before buying it since I already know that this course will be as good as his other courses. I recently joined a company and there we are working on a big project which has so many configurations and it was build using Gradle and I was having trouble understanding them. I googled and read some online blogs, watched some youtube videos but still many things were not clear to me so when his course came on Gradle I was overjoyed. His explanation is so simple, precise, short and to the point.
