Course Description
Developing modern software requires an automated pipeline that builds, tests, and deploys your application, complete with its required infrastructure. GitLab is a Git-based version control server, available at gitlab .com or as a private server. GitLab CI provides automated builds and deployments right from within GitLab. With GitLab CI, it is easy to add build and deployment automation that triggers on every code change, helping you build high-quality, reliable software and deploy it to production at speed. This course will give you a hands-on tutorial on GitLab CI. You will use GitLab CI to create a DevOps pipeline to automatically build, test, and deploy software to virtual machines and container environments.
You will explore the features of GitLab CI, including using runners to execute build jobs, creating multi-stage builds, and deploying to virtualized and containerized environments. You will see how easy it is to get started with GitLab CI by deploying your own runners in cloud environments or on your own servers, using Docker and Kubernetes or ordinary scripting.
By the end of this course, you'll be ready to use GitLab CI for your own applications to automate your build and deployment pipelines.

The course give a good overview of the Gitlab CI/CD capabilities. Even if some details changed since the course was created, the concepts still apply. It was just what I was looking for. Thank you, Alan!

I think I was too junior for this course. I learned a few things but I expected to understand more. I tried to do what was done in the video and couldn't understand how to get it to work. A piece of advice for next courses : when you say "I enjoyed getting through this course with you", it would be better with the shadow of a smile at any moment ;)

This teacher is very knowledgeable, but main downside is that, especially in part 1, runners are not explained well. I've rewatched few times and could not understand what is DIND and stuff like that. Of course I'll look it online, but it is hard to reliably find that kind of stuff. I think it would be better to made things more visually appealing, i. e. show some graphs how does DIND works. Or maybe add one section at the beginning where all of the runners are explained in detail? With graphical imagery of course. I've had some experience with Jenkins so it wasn't too hard to follow, but I think if I was a novice in this, it would definitely be harder to follow. 1080 video quality please :D Once again, all props to teacher, keep up the good work!

Lots of valuable information on Gitlab CI and Kubernetes. However, it's a bit outated with current versions of tools. Waiting for an updated version of this course. Also the learning materials just has the final version. It would have been great to have different versions at different stages of the course.

The version of k8s I have is 1.17 so with a few changes to the deployment I am able to get it to work. The information on gitlab is very good. Just the k8s portion needs some updates. Overall useful.

I saw 3 over 5 sections because these are the ones I'm interested in. It was pretty clear with many repeatable examples and I was in able to reach my purpose to understand how to use it this gitlab-ci for my project. So thanks a lot for this course.

Practically zero opportunity for hands-on exercises during the course. This course is not for a beginner. I was looking for a deep-dive into gitlab-ci, and while there was some, there was little in the way of gitlab-ci.yml patterns or best practices - only a fraction of the language was explained. I will give the course credit for exposing a ton of concepts to be explored in depth on your own.

Very good course, with a lot of explanations and practical knowledge. I'm just missing more information about gitlab-runners on Kubernetes, e.g. how to setup gitlab runners in different namespaces.

Very informative. coming from jenkins gitlab has a lot already integrated which is very nice. The gke integration is great but would be nice to have an addition in the future to deploy in AWS/EKS.
