The course is very short. May I suggest for improvement? 1. Show more characters not only kids-like. 2. Show characters with professions but maintaining the kawaii style 3. Show different pose such as running, walking, climbing, jumping, sitting etc. 4. Show different clothes 5. Show characters from different countries or culture even just a few. It could have been a lot better with all these. Overall, it was nice. Blessings

Thank you a great well presented little course that really helped me get into the mode of simplifying my drawing. The course is definitely great for anyone wanting instant drawing success if they have never drawn before. Although Kawaii is not a style that I would personally develop, the course helped me to learn to pare things down a bit in my own character design. There are some useful tips for more experienced designers/illustrators to add to their tool kit. Note though the course is not comprehensive, the course pretty much sticks to the development of the front view with the same basic proportions. Extra sections developing poses and the cartoon style would be a nice bonus. Maybe a sequel (part 2) course developing these ideas would be great!

Thank you, Ben!! This course has been amazing. It really helps to motivate you and get you started with simple yet beautiful kawaii drawings. This truly helped me to deal with burnout and stress. This course does give your brain something interesting to enjoy :) My feedback would be: please add a section with more details on drawing poses. The 3/4 section was really good, just elaborate a little bit more on how to get proportions right on those drawings. Overall it was a beautiful experience! Thank you!!!

If you're looking to learn to draw Kuwaii style characters, in a particular style, this is great. I took it to give me something easy to draw as I learn to draw. As such, it was perfect. Just enough challenge to keep me working at developing those first level skills, broken down into fun little bits so I always had produced something as a result of nearly every class. My only add is about the 'hands' lesson, which shows a bunch of hands close up that you can learn, but I had a lot of trouble adding them seamlessly to a character afterwards. Would be great to see a further lesson seeing them go onto characters in different positions and in proportion to the rest of the body. My results were consistently too large, awkward, etc.

Overall not a bad course. Some things I didn't like were I felt there wasn't enough variety in drawing chibis and the course was overly simplified and I will elaborate more on these. Throughout the whole course he only used a circle as a head, never one with any type of contours. The "sausage limbs" I felt were also too simple but I did like that he gave another example of drawing chibi hands. I would have like to see more hairstyles. At least 2 of the eye example were very similar to others he had already shown. More body types would have been nice. The chibi animals were ok but as another reviewer stated more variety would have been nice for that as well like sea animals, birds, etc. On some of the chibis, he had clothes on them but he didn't have a section on drawing clothes or simple props. My expectations were hoping for a brief intro into doing simple chibis but gradually becoming more intermediate as I progressed through the course, this was not the case. I bought this course also hoping that it would surpass many of the Youtube videos I've watched, again not the case. I don't feel this course is geared towards the average adult who is looking for something not so simplified. This seems more fitting for a very young artist (8 yrs to maybe about 15 yrs old) and it's whom I feel benefits the most from this course. Maybe he will add more content to this course in the future but as for now if you are watching mostly youtube videos to learn chibis, you should just stick with that because to me you will learn more.

I could draw a bit before I took up this course, but I found it extremely challenging to make my drawings cute. Also, I found it extremely hard to draw human hands. This was particularly important to me as I write and illustrate Custom Picture books for children. As part of this little project of mine it is extremely important for the child to like his character drawing and the cuteness element is extremely important. Ben's course helped me tremendously to overcome my drawing handicaps and produce more confident illustrations. What's more my clients loved it. Ben Colefax shows a brief introduction of parts listed in the index that will help the student create "cute" cartoons. As he draws/demonstrates (while using Photoshop, Illustrator or Sketchbook Pro) the student (child to adult) may draw along with him. He demonstrates the core basis for which to draw other cartoons on with this very simple, but modern style. I wish he had links to more of his creations and more animals or monsters. So charmingly cute. Cartoon books from Amazon might have more examples, and as I have bought some of those books this short lecture series, for me, is more delightful and utilizes more of my senses and thus makes it easier to retain and understand. (And since I drew along with him I now have proof for myself that I can draw in this style!!) He is not too chatty and has a pleasant presentation style, and when he fast motions it he has fun background music. Thank you.

I was a bit lost after high school, not knowing what to do, I went t art school for Visual Effects and Digital Animation. The second class on the first day was character design and the expectation was that it's everyone's first time picking up a pencil - which it was for me. Well, after 15 minutes and a glance at my neighbours drawing I realized that I wasn't in the right place... that was 15 years ago. I recently have been hiring artists for some game development and got really inspired to draw... after going through this course I'm pretty sure I could have rocked it through art school... This is a great course to get started, and I mean really get started.

This course is an excellent crash course that'll get you drawing kawaii style quickly. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is that some of the intermediate level discussion points were briefly touched. I would have liked to see those elaborated upon (e.g. configuring your photoshop and brushes for drawing Kawaii style). It appears that those courses are in the works, so once they are live (assuming they are as good as the rest of the course), I'll be updating my review to a 5! Edit: Well, the sections I requested were added and they were super helpful! So I updated my review as promised.

Thank you for a very instructive & easy to follow course. I've always wondered how these cute characters were done & I've certainly gained a lot from this course. I like the way the Instructor spoke or sounded more like coaxing his students to take their first steps into the unknown. He takes you step by step & only using simple basic shapes to produce cute & likeable characters. Kudos too for the quality of the videos. I didn't have any issues whatsoever. Now that the lessons are over, I can perhaps create some decent looking characters. Thank you
