Course Description
Are Your Website Visitors Seeing “Not Secure” in Their Browser?
It’s a bit unnerving, right? You’ve put time and effort into building your website, but when visitors land on your page, they might see that dreaded “Not Secure” warning. In today’s world, where online security is more important than ever, that little message can seriously impact how much people trust your site.
Trust is Everything
Imagine this: a potential customer visits your site, but instead of feeling reassured, they hesitate because their browser warns them about security. It’s not just a minor issue—it’s a deal-breaker. People are becoming increasingly cautious about sharing their information online, and a website that isn’t secure can instantly lose credibility.
How to Know If Your Site Is Secure
It’s easy to check. Just glance at the address bar of your browser. If your site is secure, you’ll see a little padlock icon—sometimes even the word “Secure” next to it. If it’s not secure, there’s no padlock, and some browsers, like Google Chrome, may even display “Not Secure.”
That’s not a good look.
The Solution? SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
SSL is the industry standard for creating a secure, encrypted connection between a website and a visitor’s browser. You’ll know a website is protected when the URL starts with “HTTPS://” rather than just “HTTP://”—the “S” means secure.
Setting up SSL used to be a hassle, and it could get pretty pricey. But the good news? You don’t have to worry about that anymore. In my course, I’ll show you how to get a free SSL certificate, install it, and make your site secure—step by step. Plus, we’ll boost your site’s speed and security even further by connecting to Cloudflare, a powerful content delivery network.
Here’s What You’ll Learn:
The importance of SSL and why it helps your website rank better on Google.
How HTTPS works and how to set it up correctly.
Tips on checking whether your site is already secure (some hosts set it up for you automatically).
How to update your site and make sure all your pages are fully secure.
Using Cloudflare to protect your site and boost performance.
Handling mixed content issues and fixing them to maintain full SSL security.
Updating Google Analytics and Search Console after transitioning to HTTPS.
Why This Course Is Different:
I know that technical stuff can feel overwhelming, so I made this course hands-on and beginner-friendly. I’ll walk you through every step using one of my own sites as an example. You can follow along and see exactly how it’s done. At the end, I’ve included a complete conversion from start to finish in a single video—no guessing, just clear guidance.
Ready to Make Your Site Secure?
Join me, and let’s make sure your website shows that reassuring padlock—so your visitors know they can trust you.

I have written and published a number of books that are available on Amazon, including books on WordPress ("WordPress for Beginners 2026"), Self-Publishing ("Self-Publishing on Amazon 2025"), and A.I. (NotebookLM Mastery, ChatGPT for Beginners, ChatGPT for Seniors, AI for Students).
I also run a website called ezSEONews, where I provide tutorials on a number of skills required for running a successful website.
As an ex-schoolteacher, I hope I can make complicated topics simple to understand. I certainly enjoy trying!

Straight to the point and easy to follow. I had to kind of jump around in the course just to make sure I wasn't going to lock myself out of my site. This course is VERY Wordpress centric. I do not have a WP site but it still served the purpose of getting my site secure. Don't panic after you start the process. Just follow along and once you are done changing the DNS and adding the certificate to your SSL section of Cpanel give it a good 12 hours for everything to become secure.

Although quite a complex subject, Dr Andy takes you through it step by step with full explanations all the way through. Instead of: do this, do that, do this,.. etc., the course follows a better pattern of: 1st we are going to do this, and this is why, and here are other options, and this is what the 1st option looks like, and this is what you should see when you click this, pause, then click here, pause etc.. Just follow exactly what he does, and what he says, and you WILL get the prescribed outcome. Plus an understanding of how it works. Excellent course

Some assumptions were made re: ones level of familiarity with certain procedures. It was a bit fast for me and switching back and forth from WP Dashboard to cPanel to Cloudflare to Google programs was hard for me to follow. I wasn't sure a few times where we had gone, ie Google Analytics, Google Mixed Content tool...how did we get there? I don't use Google Analytics that I know of, would I still do this step? Same with the sitemap section. Perhaps I need to go back and finish some of the more basic courses first? All in all, I did learn a lot but do not feel confident making this change to SSL on my own. Thanks.

If your looking to move your site over from HTTP to HTTPS then as far as I’m concerned, you’re also looking at the right course in helping you to achieve that goal. Andy takes his time in explaining all the steps that you need to take and the various options that are available to you. It’s all here, you’ve no need to look any further and the bonus is, it won't cost you anything only your initial investment in the course. No need to pay anyone to do it for you, do it yourself, then sit back with a smirk on your face. Only a month before I completed this course I paid £80.00 for one of my sites to be converted to HTTPS. I won’t be paying anyone else again. You can do this. Highly Recommended.

I learnt a lot about https, ssl, tsl, certificates in this course. The only thing I would love to see is how you would generate certificates if you have a stationary server in your room such as I do. Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard is what I use. A lot from this course have helped me on the way to succeed in doing what I described above. Edit: A course like this is awesome for any web developer. It gives you insight how stuff works and what can go wrong and how you can prevent hackers stealing sensitive information. Learning about https as the .NET dev I am, this really open my eyes about how the traffic really works. Also I like servers so this is cool stuff. Continue teaching stuff! Awesome teacher. //Erik

A well presented course that fully explains the process. A couple of areas were glossed over rather quickly, but a rerun of the lecture makes it clearer. Overall, a very good course.

While use of Cloudflare is a really good idea, I was confused for awhile about whether Cloudflare was necessary or not. It would be good to be explicit about how to move forward in the course both with and without using Cloudflare. Otherwise, while the content was new to me, and at times things felt a little bit like magic, everything worked as advertised. Highly recommend this course.

Dr. Andy delivers a through explanation of the subject matter. The explanation of the ssl and non ssl was understandable. All the lectures were high quality video and audio was constant. The explanation of the different ssl certificates was useful to me. The cloudflare set up was clear and easy to follow. Overall this is a useful course to make the conversion to and ssl site.

Overall a very thorough course, there is a lot to take in but when you have gone through the process a couple of times then you realise the benefit of the course. I would never have attempted the switch from HTTP to HTTPS without this Course. Well Done My only slightly negative issue and this is not serious, is that when you have completed a couple of Andy's course you get some repetition in the earlier parts of the course ie in this one it was about Stable Host.

The most important part of the course was, for me, the last lecture (Section 5: Lecture 34), which was effectively a summary of all the lectures that had gone before, and which presented a more straightforward, linear approach to converting an HTTP site to HTTPS. However, I was confused, during that last lecture, by the unexpected use of AutoSSL, a procedure we'd learned to stay clear of, in preceding lectures. Also, I couldn't download the file "process.txt" despite clicking the relevant resource several times.
