Course Description

Hyper-V is Microsoft's hardware virtualization product. It allows you create and run a software version of a computer, called a virtual machine. Each virtual machine acts like a complete computer, running an operating system and programs. When you need computing resources, virtual machines give you more flexibility, help save time and money, and are a more efficient way to use hardware than just running one operating system on physical hardware.

Hyper-V runs each virtual machine in its own isolated space, which means you can run more than one virtual machine on the same hardware at the same time. You might want to do this to avoid problems such as a crash affecting the other workloads, or to give different people, groups or services access to different systems.

My courses are not presentations that rely on slides to explain concepts.  My goal is to demonstrate every concept covered, instead of using slides that cover theory, we will use the interface to configure every setting that is discussed.  In my view, if you do not know how to complete a task that a course covered, that course was not beneficial.  I will make sure that you know how to complete each task and the various configurations for those tasks.

This was a great introduction to Hyper-V and I feel confident using it daily now in a lab setting as a test environment for a production setting that I recently inherited responsibility to manage. I still need to learn troubleshooting skills for VM performance and for a host cluster environment, but this course sends me well on my way to study those advanced topics in Hyper-V. Great explanations and real-world insight shared in the training lessons.

I've worked in VMWare for several years at this point, but felt it would be good to learn more about other virtualization methods. Kevin does an excellent job explaining Hyper-V and its functionality, as well as the (few, but notable) differences between running Hyper-V in Windows 10 versus Windows Server 2016. This course provides the fundamentals in understanding how Hyper-V works, and I highly recommend anyone interested in virtualization to go through it.

I've been using Windows servers for a while now, but never went thru the formal Hyper-V set up. It was just never used where I worked. I've seen bits and pieces and I've dabbled where I can see it in action, but never in setting it up or administering it. I've learned quite a bit from taking this course.

A really good, concise course! Explanations are clear and the demonstrations are excellent. I'm a network engineer so I haven't had as much exposure to virtualisation technologies. This course is an excellent introduction to the fundamentals of Hyper-V and I've already been able to apply this knowledge at work. Thank you!
