I have been addicted to networking ever since the first time I heard about the CCNA certification. I remember hearing everyone say how big of a deal it was, which made me want it more than anything. I was climbing towers for a living at the time in sub zero temperatures. All I could think about was how getting my CCNA certification could be a way to a better opportunity. I told myself that one day I would be CCNA certified. After a lot of studying and time in the lab.....I passed! Now I am a Systems Engineer and all I do is networking. Every time I pass a cell tower I think about how much the CCNA has changed my life and I am grateful.
I decided to become a CCNA instructor during my path to the CCNA certification. While I tried different courses with terrible instructors...I thought about how I wished I could teach students a better way. Now with Udemy, I can.

This is the overall BEST video series for CCENT that I have found! Great Foundation! Wish this was the first thing I had found. Best to worse out of the CCENT material that I have tried. All of these guys are experts and really know there stuff buuuuut..... Matt Carey - Udemy- Clear, on task, no extra crap, good pace, great price!! David Bombal- Udemy - He is great but for CCENT he talks over your head and you have no idea what he is talking about. But great labs. Great price! Keith Boghart - INE, stays on objectives but wastes time on intro into subjects, cheap feel to visual aids. overpriced. Keith Gebhardt- Udemy. In a huge rush for some reason, has terrible language habits, talks to fast and slurs. Doesn't explain things well but there is a value in the basic labs and repetition. Good price. Also for me the lab book would not download for 2 days. lab book download from his shady looking website where he asks you to buy more stuff. Jeremy Cioara- CBT nuggets. Acts like a clown on speed. wastes 2 or 3 min in each video off topic about himself, family etc. Doesn't stay within the CCENT curriculum sometimes. Course not organized well, no pace, takes forever. Seems like he could be really good at this but he has lost touch with what needs to be done. Ridiculously overpriced $80 a month subscription to CBT nuggets I had for 6 months. ugh They all cover the same thing but In different ways. I would combine Matt Carey, Pearson VUE test prep with Quiz, Packet tracer, some basic labs from Youtube, then David Bombal to top it off.

A good course, covers what you need for the CCENT exam. Each category is broken down and to the point video making it easy to digest. I have tried other online tutorials in the past and they tend to go over my head or are too long, if you are like me this course is perfect for you. Matt the author is very helpful and answered my questions even the ones I thought were lame but he was nice enough to get back to me. I am very grateful for the support. This will be my second time sitting this exam (which is tomorrow) I feel confident thanks to this course and of a Cisco book but it really depends on the questions I get.

Overall the course material wasn't bad, however I don't really like when people shows off CLI demo sessions without following some basic teaching rules, such as: 1) Before writing any commands I want to have at least a basic introduction (or at least an external documentation reference I can use) 2) The teacher should write slowly in order to let the audience see what's he/she is actually writing on the console. 3) Don't talk / write /delete / move the mouse cursor all at the same time... allow some time for the person that is listening to you to actually grasp some new knowledge. 3) Whenever possible the teacher should not use abbreviated commands/options. Also, it doesn't hurt to repeat the meaning of some basic commands like for example "config t" --> "configure terminal".

I've been using this course and reading Odom's ICND1 book and it seems this instructor has covered the topics necessary for ICND1. I found it helpful to watch these videos and read relevant chapters in the book and then rewatch the videos. This way, once I have a good understanding of how and why things are supposed to work, I can see him do the router/switch configurations. After this, I try to practice some of it on real hardware and Packet Tracer. I have finished watching all of the videos, but still have some of the book left to read. Then I'll probably rewatch a few of the videos (ACL's, for example, because I'm not comfortable with that yet). This instructor does seem to have a habit of hitting the Enter key many times after everything he does. This can make it hard to look at the commands or output without having to rewind the video sometimes.

I have passed my CCENT exam on 27th of July with the help of this course. With the use of this course along with Chris Bryant and David Bombal, I was able to pass the exam on my second try. I feel that this course really helped me understand some of the topics that I was really struggling on; network fundamentals and routing fundamentals. I do think that Matt could go more in depth when it comes to IPv6 addresses. Other than that, I recommend this course when it comes to understanding the theory.

After doing a few other networking courses it has become clear to me that Matt has a better curriculum set up than most. Other instructors seem all over the place and, while they may be teaching the same thing, it doesn't help to teach a "newbie" how to put the cart before the horse. Matt has a nice logical A to B to C process that has helped me understand how to set up a network from an empty room to working the CLI. While this doesn't answer all my questions all the time, it certainly provides a beneficial resource among my many books and courses.

The information presented in the course is solid. i don't think that this course is for everyone, meaning if you don't have a little bit of experience with Cisco products it would be a little difficult to understand everything presented here, also the information is not presented in the best order (for e.g. simple things like banner of the day are presented in the final chapter)

Great videos and very informative. I don't believe that you can use only this course and pass the ICND1 but it's a great supplement to use along with the official guide or another class that you might be taking. Instructor was also very response to my emails. There were some issues with the videos at first when I email him and he fixed it right away.

I'm enjoying the course. At the end of some videos there will be information that cannot be absorbed because prompt for next video to start comes up. Ex: This is what the port configuration will look like. Then video cuts off before you can fully check the config. I then have to go into dir. select past video a choose point near video end get to part of clip I need to examine the pause the video. There should be a natural pause before video ends and jumps to next clip.

This course really helped me out a lot. I did not know too much about switches and routers but after going through the course. I knew about the OSI model, switches, routers and VLAN and Trunks just to name a few. I was able to go to an interview a feel really comfortable in the interview. Love this course
