Course Description
A practical, concise, and hands-on machine learning course you can complete in just a few hours — with a companion eBook included.
Wouldn’t it be great to add intelligent features like image recognition, natural language processing, or sentiment analysis to your iOS, macOS, or iPadOS apps?
In this course, you’ll learn how to unleash the power of machine learning using Core ML, Create ML, Vision, and Swift 6 with SwiftUI.
We’ll start by demystifying what machine learning is and how it works — explained in plain English, without jargon. We’ll explore Apple’s machine learning frameworks through real examples and hands-on Swift coding.
You’ll build practical iOS apps that can:
Recognize dog breeds from photos
Analyze the sentiment of product reviews
Detect faces, barcodes, and text in images using Vision
You’ll also learn how to train your own machine learning models right on your Mac using Create ML.
And there’s a lot more packed into this professional, focused course.
About the Instructor
I’ve been designing and building software for over 30 years for companies like Apple, Siemens, and SAP.
As a software architect, I helped create enterprise frameworks, including Siemens Healthcare’s syngo image processing system and Apple–SAP’s Cloud Platform SDK for iOS.
I currently hold twelve patents in the field of mobile computing.
What You’ll Learn
How Apple’s machine learning frameworks fit together (Core ML, Create ML, Vision, NaturalLanguage)
Natural language text processing and sentiment analysis
Setting up and integrating Core ML models in Xcode projects
Image recognition and object detection with the Vision framework
Training and testing your own image classifiers on your Mac

The instructor make it simple to understand all the required concepts and key takeaways in the lectures

A great fit for my background. I had prior experience using Core ML and Vision with external pre-trained models, and this course clearly explains how to build detection, classification, and NLP features from scratch.

The course its outdated, you can still refer to the lessons of the course, but apple has launched a lot of tools that are not mentioned for example It's good to know how to train a model in "the classic way" with code using a swift playground, but nowadays you have CreateML app to accomplish this in a super simple way, and this is not mentioned on all the course. Also the course is short, and is build on UIKit (I make a note on here if somebody like me is planning to create a ML app using SwiftUI). Overall the course is good, but I am dissapointed that is very outdated. (The github repo says that the last update was on 2018...)

I really enjoyed the course. The only thing I wish is that: 1) It would be up to date (CreateML instead of the Playground) 2) There would be more in depth analysis regarding how to use Classifiers and all that ML stuff within Apps and not taking the same Apple provided example over and over again. But everything else is quite good, nice overview, good talking speed, quite understandable even for a non English native speaker.

This course is incredibly simple and easy to understand for a beginner who has not delved into Machine Learning before. Looking forward to finishing this in a sprint and then applying the knowledge in a real-world application. Thanks Karoly!

It's a good base to start ML from scratch. I do wish there was a few more complicated model examples in a potential Section 7. Or even a bit more explanation of what makes a good CreateML model. Anyway, this course made me a bit more confident to start to go deeper into ML, but I'll need to research more to figure out how to get target results from my own data sets.

Thank you Karoly, you have delivered another excellent course, with detailed explanations and real world examples of machine learning that any app developer will be able to put into practice with their app development.Excellent course.
By Zbyszek Pietras on 1/31/2019
This course is the best introduction to Machine Learning with Swift. It is going to familiarize you with common machine learning tasks and is very helpful for beginners. Maybe it covers similar knowledge like as Apple documentation but it is less confusing here because Karoly is using simple terms, avoiding confusing jargon.
By Dan Gray on 12/1/2018
I've been looking for a course that teaches CoreML2 with natural language processing and CreateML. I found this course very useful and gets directly to the important topics. I also appreciated the Vision CoreML section as well.
