John Thompson
Hi. I'm John.
I've been in the IT industry for over 25 years. Today, I specialize mainly in Java, the most successful and widely known programming language in use today. I also specialize with the Spring Framework, which the most popular open source application framework for building enterprise class applications on the Java platform. Just some of the organizations I've worked with include Visa, Kohls, Federal Home Loan Bank, and Belk Department Stores.
Through the courses I'm providing, I hope to leverage my years of experience to accelerate your learning of the Spring Framework. I'm not going to lie to you. The Spring Framework is a big framework. The environment for enterprise Java is even bigger. If you're new to Java, you have a lot to learn. I hope through the content on this web site I can accelerate your education of the Java and Spring landscape.

so far i am enjoying it.... the only issue is that i am now using a more recent intellij and as expected some things are not found exactly in the same place as explained. obviously this is not the fault of the instructor at all; it just takes some more time to figure out where the same function is located. Thank you.

Very detailed with setting up Java onto a system. Not much is available with the actual programming. Hopefully, the course will be added to in the future; but, it is unlikely since it was started in 2020 and the instructor has not updated in quite some time. Too bad, for he did a good job with what is there.

Great explaining, any misconceptions about java basics or doubts were clarified thanks to this course, i would recommend this course as a fundamental step before proceeding to the other courses of John Thompson

The instructor does a wonderful job with examples and explanations of beginning principles. His manner and explanations were spot on. I hoped he would go into loops in this class, but it didn't happen.

This is the very beginning of the java language programming course I suppose, but I did like it very much. I like how John leads the course. I am Java developer for over 18 years and did not get any new knowledge about java but the way the course starts seems very promising. I am looking forward to see more! Note: I can see only 2.5 hrs of lectures.

The course is very good. Can't wait for the rest of the content! I am a seasoned Java developer. However, the Java 11 features are new and not very clear to me. I'm looking forward to having that here.

Course and Instructor are great, very good course, but title of the course is a bit misleading, in my opinion. Becoming a guru by going through this course is an overstatement, I think. This is a Beginners training and not a full course or learning path, for that matter.
By Babu George on 4/16/2020
Yes indeed this was a good match for me, but disappointing that it is too short and ends abruptly. I am a non OOPS fellow and had tried many training courses on Java ans got terrified hearing class, objects, abstract, polymorphism etc. Keeping aside all those for later sessions, Thompson introduced methods, classes and packages in a very simple approach. Introducing Unicodes in this small course is highly noted which usually most trainers ignore.

Mr Thompson is an excellent teacher and explains concepts very clearly. I especially felt his explanation of primitive and non-primitive types was exceptional. Anxiously awaiting on more modules and advanced topics, but it's off to a great start.
