Java Spring Tutorial Masterclass - Learn Spring Framework 5 (Udemy.com)

This course was nice but, in my opinion, too long due to keeping legacies videos.
I learned very interessant thinks.

This course is very good, Tim is a great teacher, but there is one very big flaw with this course. Most of the time you will run into a lot of errors. The Q and A section for this course is a bust. Goran is the persons name and the only offer of advice that he gives you to fix your solution is, "Look at the source code". Literally tells everyone to do that. I could do that with no knowledge of the Java Spring language. I hope Tim doesn't waste his money on that guy because he doesn't help anyone in the course and would rather him not answer to the students anymore. Thanks for nothing Goran!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I initially reviewed this course I gave it 3 stars however, now that I've completed the NEW section I've decided to lower my rating to 1 star. If you are looking for a course on the Spring framework I would strongly urge you to pass on it. Here's why:
1. Fundamentals and terminology are glossed over. For being a "masterclass" I would expect it to be a complete course. However, Tim assumes you know all the basics going into it. From beans, to annotations and everything in between - none of this is gone through and explained hardly at all. You're expected to just do it and go along with it but without any context of the what or why you're doing it makes the beginning content very frustrating to get through. I was hoping that by the end of the course I would have more confidence in these fundamentals but unfortunately I do not.
2. Promises made - never kept: testing is a pretty big deal in the software world and knowing how to write tests is pretty important. I know that Spring has functionality to cover this - and Tim actually states in one of the videos that testing will be covered later in the course but this never happens. I was really looking forward to learning how to write tests using the Spring framework but that content is just not here.
3. Old content (and I'm not referring to the OLD sections that are nearly obsolete and comprise half of this course as it is): let's talk about Gradle. The Gradle content was obviously made some time after the previous parts of the course. Even still, it's been so long since any update was made to this course (November 2018 according to the instructor's note at the end) that the build.gradle file looks and is configured radically different than how he configures it in the video. This is huge and essentially ensures the student can only follow along and not code along.
Because the last time this course was updated was in November 2018 I have zero confidence this course will ever be updated again. At this point I can't help but feel that the entire course needs a complete overhaul and can not recommend it.

It's nearly two years since you announced further updates to this coursework, do you have any updates ?
The Gradle part of the course, working with 'multiple modules' is difficult to follow if you are using the latest version of Gradle.

The first sections of the course are great and teach you a lot, but the course hasn't been updated since almost two years ago, and there are things like JDBC and the NEW gradle section that are not up to date. The team hasn't provide a date for the next update, so it seems I'll have to look for another course to learn something about gradle, JDBC, and Hibernate, which isn't in the course either.
