Course Description
The Kotlin Multiplatform Masterclass by Petros Efthymiou.
Learn how to build native iOS and Android apps while sharing the infrastructure & business logic.
Are you following dozens of forums and articles and buying courses in order to move your development skills and career to the next level?
I am, too, but more often than not, after completing them, I realize that there is still a HUGE amount of work left to be done to connect all the pieces together and make them work on an actual production application. I found that even though a course was providing comprehensive knowledge on networking with Ktor, it didn't combine it with Clean architecture, dependency injection, or a local DB with SQL Delight. And because another course was extensive on SQL Delight, it was missing the rest of the best practises.
After buying courses, reading articles & forums, and getting my hands dirty, I combined the KMP best practices in a single course to build an actual production application together.
I created this course to make the process easier for you! You are going to learn how to combine:
Kotlin
Coroutines
Jetpack Compose
SwiftUI
Ktor
Koin
SQL Delight
Kotlin State Flow
Clean Architecture
MVI
And complete actual Android & iOS applications using the industry's best practices
My approach is to build an application together that can be copied and used in your actual work.
Why Me?
I am a seasoned Mobile engineer, author, and Instructor with more than 10 years of experience. I have been working as a Mobile engineer from junior to lead positions in ambitious startups & large multinational companies since 2013. Being a sound engineer, though, doesn't automatically mean that you are an excellent instructor.
In my lifetime, I have trained hundreds of thousands of developers in classrooms, web conferences, video courses, blog posts, and books.
Among other things, I have created a best-selling Android Udemy course called Android TDD Masterclass. I have also written a best-selling Amazon book, Clean Mobile Architecture, which has prepared thousands of mobile developers to become mobile architects.
Furthermore, in the past 7 years, I have delivered countless courses, seminars, and lectures in institutions, including New York College and Hellenic American Union. My current position is as a Mobile Trainer in a Multinational company called Backbase, where I am training
The internal RnD engineers
The internal professional services engineers
External third-party integrators
Why is it important?
Kotlin Multiplatform is now considered stable and ready to be used in Android production applications.
Unlike all other cross-platform applications with KMP you can rip the advantages of both native and cross-platform solutions. KMP gives you the option to build native UIs using Jetpack Compose and SwiftUI while sharing all the business logic, infrastructure, and boilerplate code.
Google and Apple don't sit still; they are in a constant innovation race. They keep coming up with new UX guidelines and UI components that shape the industry and user expectations. All the past cross-platform solutions could not catch up and eventually became deprecated. With KMP, you can leverage the native innovation while also significantly reducing the effort.
Finally, KMP delivers on the promise of using it "as-much-as-you-want". You can truly use it for the whole application or just for a new feature module without any complications.

Hi, I am Petros, and I am a passionate Software Engineer and instructor with over 10 years in the industry.
I struggled a lot in my early stages when I realized that in order to take my career to the next level, I needed to learn how to do things properly instead of just "making it work." In my journey to become a better engineer, I followed hundreds of courses, articles, books, and conferences. What I have always been missing is a single source where I could find the best practices integrated and working together. I often studied TDD, for example, but was unable to apply it to a production Coroutines-based system. This is the problem I am tackling in my courses.
I am teaching best practices using real-life examples. I make sure to explain all the reasoning behind every decision but also provide a state-of-the-art skeleton that you can re-use on your own product instead of having to combine the pieces by yourself.
I have worked on multiple Companies ranging from ambitious startups to large multinational companies as a Senior Engineer and Software Instructor. Currently, I am employed in Backbase as a software instructor team lead, making sure that our superstar developers revolutionize the old, rotten banking industry.

This course is really getting to the point. No noise and definitely not about the author. He just wants to tell how to create a KMP app with a common architecture. Great course.

I am an experienced KMP developer, so using this course as a refresher. Soo far it is good content for this purpose as its succinct and straight to the point. Content has aged quite well (from 2023 to now), with only the comment about KMP not supporting Sealed classes - which it does now in 2026 - but I do see why author may still not want to use the Sealed as you would still have to use a interop wrapper class util. Only real negative is that he isnt creating any real tests yet, but instead manually running up the app. I will see whether he then goes back later and adds KUnit tests to the common code and maybe UI tests for Android ComposeUI and IOS SwiftUI

Because the mobile development world moves fast a lot of the example material is already out of date. I think starting this course with a more detailed overview of where to find which versions of kotlin and relevant libraries work together would have been helpfull. An explanation of what need to happen if you click the 'gradle upgrade' button in android studio?
By Nicolas Klein on 12/2/2025
It covers the basics in a way that is not too detailed but complete enough. Good course if you're starting with some experience on either platform or both. Some architectural concepts are not very well explained (or straight up contradictory) but they are explained in a way that is good enough for the purpose of the course.

It's a really amazing and basic course. Yes, it's little bit older in terms of library use, so facing some issue with new library. But as mentor has already told to follow configuration as he is teaching on. Good explanation about clean architecture and showing to build up case.

The best course to learn KMP, because the instructor show us how to work both with Android an iOS, giving examples with SwiftUI and Compose, so even if you are an iOS Developer it's gonna be easy to understand the concept and the project structure.

The course provides a solid introduction to Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) with practical techniques applicable to real-world scenarios. However, it lacks coverage of essential topics like concurrency (e.g., how suspend functions work across platforms), testing, and integrating third-party or platform-specific libraries (such as maps and location services). I rated the course 3.5 stars because several modules are broken, and some lessons lack depth in iOS development, indicating the instructor’s stronger background in Android. Troubleshooting these issues can be time-consuming. I wouldn’t recommend this course to beginners or junior developers due to these challenges. However, intermediate developers with experience in at least one platform may find it a worthwhile and challenging learning experience.
By Matthew Crowell on 2/2/2025
KMP is developing quickly and the course material is getting a little dated, but it's still solid and everything can be made to run with relatively few modifications as of 01FEB2025.

I highly recommend this Kotlin Multiplatform course! The material is presented in a clear and concise manner, getting straight to the point without any unnecessary fluff. The instructor does an excellent job of breaking down complex topics into understandable segments, making it easy to follow along and grasp the concepts. Whether you're new to Kotlin Multiplatform or looking to deepen your understanding, this course is an invaluable resource. Worth every minute!

This class has exactly basic functionalities needed to tackle real-life production cases. Being able to go over Ktor / SQLDelight as well as seeing SwiftUI for the first time was a pleasant experience, especially with a teacher who properly articulate and does not speed through a topic even though the videos are around 5-9mins. Excellent Class professor Petros!!
