Meet Mike — the HR Architect Behind a Preply Unicorn and 200+ Amazon Books

Udemy features me as a Popular Instructor in Human Resources — a status assigned based on ratings, course quality, and category impact.

Before Preply became a $1.2B unicorn, I built the HR operating system that let it scale fast without breaking culture, engagement, or performance. I don't just teach HR. I build HR systems that work under hyper-growth, investor pressure, global teams, and messy processes — then I turn them into courses you can use on Monday morning.

Companies where I built HR systems

Wargaming · Preply · iDeals · PeopleForce · Alfa-Bank · StarLightMedia · and other international tech and gaming companies.

The Preply case (before the headlines)

- Headcount: ~50 → 110+

- eNPS: 30 → 70 in 6 months

- International workforce: 12% → 25%

- OKRs, performance management, and 1:1 leadership routines implemented

- Onboarding system + Employee Handbook

- HR tech stack (15Five, ATS, People Analytics)

- Berlin office launch, relocation & visa operations

That is not HR theory. That is operational HR at scale, under unicorn pressure.

Material was largely good - but delivery was very awkward, i think likely related to it being originally delivered live in a non-english language, with a post-edit made with an english voiceover and odd gaps. The rhythm flow of videos impacted the quality of the lesson.

By Alfred Davalos on 6/13/2025

There is some good information in this course. However the instructor gave too many personal examples. Those examples seemed to be giving his resume. He also didn't ever read the presenting slides. He skimmed through that information. The course seemed to be taken from some classroom setting that had homework. Also there were never any checkpoints to see if the student is retaining the given information.

By Kerrie Shue on 5/23/2025

Very good information. A little on the dry side with not enough interaction. There are no options for those just entering the L and D field and wanting to learn and practice. It would be nice to have some scenarios to help complete the homework.

By Daria Urbanik on 4/30/2025

It was a good course with a lot of materials but even not coming from a corporate L&D or HR background (I'm a language teacher) a lot of information was obvious.

By Chandana Wijesuriya on 3/31/2025

This course is ideal for HR professionals, managers, and anyone responsible for employee development, ensuring a strategic approach to workforce learning and education.

By Sloane Anastasia on 3/15/2025

This course demystified the entire T&D process for me. I now understand how to conduct a proper needs assessment and design training programs that actually deliver results.

By October Lyric on 3/15/2025

The instructor's real-world examples and case studies brought the concepts to life. I could easily see how to apply the techniques in my own organization.

By Noelle Aubree on 3/15/2025

I appreciated the practical tools and templates provided, especially the training evaluation forms. They've streamlined my workflow and made it easier to measure the impact of our programs.

By Leon Roman on 3/15/2025

The section on learning theories was particularly insightful. It helped me understand why certain training methods are more effective than others, and how to tailor learning to different employee styles

By Alden Ronan on 3/14/2025

The course is very good and is in the right pace. Also, the chapters are defined in such a way that when we enter a particular chapter, we see that we have the topic which we have already given.
