Course Description

"I wanted to understand the Agile environment so I can introduce it to my team. This course was well structured and has helped me a lot to understand what I needed to know. Thank you!" - Nkosinathi V.

"Clear articulation and easy to interpret, certainly recommend as the same thinking can be applied in any sales environment." - Daren M.

"Wooow- mind-blowing. came at the right time for me as I have been tasked with introducing the concept of servant leadership in my organization. I will recommend this to all my Exco team." - Ronald K.

"Great job Peter. I like the content and the way that you delivered your lecture. There’s really no other way to influence performance in agile workers but to influence their behavior, be a Servant Leader, and Trust your employees. Thank you so much for the great course." - Lucas K.

"This is a course that everyone must go through to understand what needs to be done to build the organization that is expected by everyone working on it. We have seen technical guys being promoted to management roles without an understanding of the role itself and what they must do to get it correct which they turn into dictatorship instead of playing the actual leadership. I am going to recommend this to many individuals within our space to ensure everyone understands the impact of agile and the power it can bring to the team." - Tharollo N.

Peter Alkema

"What an amazing course! After finishing this course, I have confidence. Thank so much Dr Peter Alkema" ... "This is exactly the jump-start I needed. Very clear and concise"

I lead Digital Transformation & Architecture at ABB and I've been featured on CNBC Africa and won the Gartner CIO Of The Year in 2016. I founded and led the largest banking hackathon in South Africa which was published in 2019 as a case study by Harvard Business School.

I've taught over 100,000 students about technology, business, academics and self-development. In 2020 I completed my PhD at Wits University In Johannesburg. The study introduced a ground-breaking theory of Agile software development teams. My woodworking book was published in 2014 and has sold over 10,000 copies.

Olugbenga Gbadegesin: "Excellent delivery" / Lebogang Tswelapele: "This is what I have been longing for" / Paskalia Ndapandula: "Peter speaks with so much clarity" / Amantle Mangwedi: "It was straight to the point and the sections are cut into nice short segments which made it easier to go through" Kathy Bermudez: "Excellent material. Well organized..."

Werner van Wyk: "Thank you Peter, once again your lesson and course have given me so much knowledge and understanding" / Yvonne Rudolph "I really look forward to take everything i learned in action" / Josephine Mahlangu: "exactly what I needed to know, absolutely valuable and helpful for my personal growth"

The flow of the modules seems to be mixed up e.g. there are more than one introduction sections, the tour of the modules is in section 4:18 instead of at the beginning and section 9:29 is a repeat of 3:15. The content is good, but its hard to follow the flow and know how much you have progressed through the course

First, I'd like to thank these leaders for taking time out to teach is awesome. Second, I did like that the teacher explained great bullet points on behavior, servant leadership, and trust that is needed for a leader to become a well-rounded supervisor. One thing that comes to mind about the lecture, I believe more resources need to be downloadable for future reference. Also, I did like how the teacher had me visualize organizational structure with drawings of upper management down to the employees. The acronym of (BOSS: Be. On. Same. Side) of your subordinates to create a better agile team environment.

By Tikka Singh on 4/24/2023

It was very well-organized training material and was relevant to day-to-day activities. Lot of new things to learn particularly how to handle failures, giving independence to your agile team and having confidence in the team that they will deliver what they are supposed to deliver.

Great course, very insightful material. Yet practical in nature thus the lessons learnt can be applied to the working environment. Personally, loved the additional resources, ideal to have something to refer back to. Thank you, Peter.

I am pleased with the focus on Agile and the role of a manager in that context, and the idea of a leader's role as protecting the Agile team environment, managing outward, is a helpful reminder.

By Anonymized User on 7/13/2022

Yes. As a CIC India Eu architects leader I do practice all traits mentioned. Empowering my teams all times and keep motivating them for working in new ways, innovating etc asking them how can I help them to achieve these gaols.

By Mechelle Decoteau on 8/17/2021

I took this course as part of my 2021 improvement goals. as part of my new role, I will be leading teams from various business areas. I am not the SME but need to understand how to best facilitate and drive successful projects to completion. The principles in this course will be very helpful in my work.

Great job Peter. I like the content and the way that you delivered your lecture. There’s really no other way to influence performance in agile workers but to influence their behaviour, be a servant Leader and to Trust your employees. Thank you so much for the great course.

Very nice course that goes into quite a bit of detail regarding the very succesful Code Fest Concept and example of it being brought to life with business and technical resources working together to build solutions with shorter time to market. The course also explains the Agile concepts so that everyone can understand them. Well done Peter Alkema on the Code Fest initiative.
