Leadership: You Can Speak Like a Leader (Udemy.com)

The good: This course has some good suggestions for putting together a verbal presentation. The bad: Ignore essentially everything this guy says about PowerPoint presenting. It's largely incorrect or flawed information. The ugly: About 85% or so of this group of courses is just repeating the same stories and examples and suggestions over and over and over. Prime example of "this could have been an email."

This course is very informative. It has helped me improve my speaking skills especially when speaking one on one. Speaking to a group of people, big or small, is something I would not do on a daily basis but, I would like to work on and be confident when I need to.

Probably the best course on communication on this platform, but this is not a course that you can just binge and get the certificate. There's a lot very good stuff that is tailored to specific examples and it's mostly helpful when you need help for this situations. Docking half a star only because the AI slop at the end got too generic and double dipped on things too many times in the same section. It helped reinforce the lessons previously learned, but I'd rather go back a few sections and listen to TJ instead.

maybe more with the platform. Since this is a lecture, can listen while doing other things (like clean) but have to come back to the PC to indicate to the platform I am still listing. Stop the lecture to ask for a rating on the course breaks up the flow of learning the material. Content does have value to me.

The comprehensive content, practical exercises, and convenient format made it a valuable resource for anyone seeking to enhance their leadership communication skills. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to speak with confidence and lead with impact in any professional setting.

The course has been so educative, i have learnt that anytime i have a presentation i must first do myself videos on the topic i wish to present, that goes to build my confidences and i should also visit the venue much earlier and practice before the audience arrive that gives the room to take ownership of the presentation, the course is so interesting i have learn so much and still learning. Mr. Walker is an amazing instructor who knows the ins and outs of leadership! Very detailed in all aspects of this subject and he makes it feel like it's a one-on-one course. This is my second time going through one of classes and I would highly recommend him for anyone wanting to either work on their leadership and speech skills or just to get a refresher. The time is worth it to invest in this course and so is the time with Mr. Walker. I feel like this will benefit me in my career and so much more!!

The course is very insightful and practical in terms of providing simple solutions to improve communication in a variety of circumstances. I like the emphasis placed on 3-5 points and making communication simple in concept and good examples and methods to conceptualize the information. This information is applicable for both professional and personal aspects of one's life.

I enrolled in this course to help improve my presentation skills as I took on more responsibilities that came with a promotion in 2021. This included engaging with more senior leaders and C-Level executives inside the organization and at our clients. This was a course I started in April with the intent of finishing before the End of the Year. Happy to say this was a goal I achieved, but as TJ says what's the point if are just trying to get through the sessions. My approach to this course was to review each section and then prioritize those session that I thought would have the biggest impact on upcoming projects. I did not binge the entire session, but have spread it out over the course of 6 months. Watching some session multiple times, but a lot of the time was spent practicing. The results have been great! When a VP and other executives compliment you on your presentation skills and how improved they are, I think you can call that a win. To say that I wasn't a fan of presenting would be an understatement. I also wasn't a horrible speaker to start with, but this course changed my approach, made me more confident, and helped me focus my message for my audience. Since starting this course I have given talks on the importance on focusing on value in business, pitched new and innovative ideas for investment, presented to a customer advisory board, and more. Though none of these were perfect in my eyes, thanks to TJ's teaching my audience didn't know that. Thanks TJ. Overall, I really enjoyed this course as I could see the payoff immediately. I appreciated the fact that keys to being a successful presenter were reinforced constantly, especially taking the course over an extended period of time. I would like to see courses this to include some buffer in the time. Udemy states that the course is 29 hours, but if you are really investing in the homework and practice it far outweighs that. I know that could be difficult, but I am sure with the number of people you have worked with you could provide a rough estimate. I initially set my schedule based on the time stated, but had to shift my approach once I realized the time commitment. It would also be helpful if there was a recommended approach as to if the course should be done in a week, month, quarter. Or don't do this in a week. Even though there was a consistent message in the lectures (practice w/ recording, 3 to 5 points, don't memorize) each one still offered a take away outside of those that I didn't expect. As you discussed in the retirement, eulogy, and wedding about stories and making sure the laughs are directed at yourself really resonated. I am a joker and now I won't make that mistake, because I know I would have. And in the large audience lecture, the points about culture and secondary languages. These aren't things I had thought about. There is your donut :-). For those reading my review, you'll understand as you go through the sessions. Thanks so much for a great course. I'll be recommending it to my team for 2022.

Great teaching. This course is very thorough. All the principles are sound, straightforward, and really easy to understand. Now, the hardest part is actually to put those principles into an application. What I appreciated the most is how insistent TJ is on inviting us, students, to send him video samples so he can help us progress in our journey of public speaking. I really appreciated that he stood up on his promise and review my own performance with constructive advice. I shall then stand by his side and challenge you. Are you willing to take your own success into your hands, to make the most of this course, and get out of your comfort zone in order to really improve yourself?
