Course Description
Hi and welcome to the course!
So you've learned HTML, CSS, & JavaScript, but now you are wondering what to learn next so you can advance your web development skills.
Well look no further! Join me in this quick, easy-to-follow, step-by-step course and get started learning the ins-and-outs of AJAX with jQuery, today!
What will we be building?
We're going to take a simple CRUD application, made with Node's Express framework, and refactor it into a single page application using jQuery & AJAX (I've already created the Express app for you, so you can jump right into learning AJAX).
You can then use this knowledge to integrate AJAX into any of your current or future web projects.
If you don't know Express or jQuery then you can still follow along, but I would highly recommend learning those technologies beforehand to get the most out of this course. You can learn Express and jQuery (along with a myriad of other modern web technologies) from Colt Steele in his "The Web Developer Bootcamp" course on Udemy.

Hard to see the code in a couple of lectures and missing some explanations (why we are doing some things) which would be helpful, but still useful despite probably being dated in Q3 2020. Hard to complain about a free lecture. Thanks, Ian.

Great course! The teacher is great, the content is well planned and the documentation is excellent. Thanks you, lan! I hope from you making video to explain "refresh the data without refreshing the whole page using Ajax", or just link to explain more about method. Thanks again!

Exactly what this course should be- the needed information for basics which every programmer needs for AJAX: the underlying technology that has been renovated and updated by all the modern frameworks. A fast way to understand it and keep it in the lineup in case you come across the one time position where the app is using ten year old HTTP code.

This course is similar to jQuery single page app project by Colt Steele in the Advanced Web Development Bootcamp course. I took this course because I wanted to practice it some more. If I did not watch Colt's course I would have had a hard time understanding this. This way it was OK. One note: The text on the screen is usually very small and Ian very often types at the bottom of the screen. The video controls do not always disappear and it is impossible to see what he is typing. Pausing the video often does not help in comparing the code that I wrote and the one written by Ian.

Amazing course! :D I had to learn AJAX in a really short amount of time (due to a project I was doing), and this course was the right one to choose, and learning AJAX in such a short time was excellent! Simple, fun and straightforward course! Great job Ian, and also thank you for all the support so far in handling problems and solving issues!

As the Course Overview promises, Ian walks us through each step needed to migrate a functioning server-side Express app into a client-oriented Ajax app. Exactly what I needed to learn, as I aim to refactor an Express app that I've built for my developer portfolio. I hope that the instructor has more courses covering more material planned for the future. I'll be watching for them.

I bought this course through a recommendation from Colt Steel's web course which was fantastic. I was hoping the same standard would be maintained. But unfortunately, the teaching style is just not for me. Ian moves very quickly through the course without explaining very much about how everything links clearly. I felt completely confused from the start and struggled to get the application running to begin with. Ian is a smart guy but the way he describes the code and talks is way too technical. It needs to be simplified more. Building the application from start to finish would have been much more effective or an alternative would be to go through the code that has already been pre-prepared since diving straight was quite challenging.

Instructor explanation of lesson material is very good. I found the ajax demonstration informative and helpful and especially appreciated the demo of the conversion of the SPA to a micro service based app. However, in my opinion, Ian often slips into a routine of escalating the pace of the lectures to a point that strains easy comprehension. Going forward, I would advise slowing down and also increasing the size of the video images. This course is a good follow up to Colt Steele's Web Developer Bootcamp. Otherwise, it is helpful to have a basic understanding the Jquery and Node/Express.

Very good course. Ian teaches AJAX calls concisely and precisely. One note though: this is an introductory course. If you take it, you will know how to use ajax calls, not how they work in details, nor how asynchronous calls differs from synchronous ones, or any kind of similar analysis. Saying that, this course completely fulfills what it promised.

Nice course to take after Colt Steele's web deb bootcamp, which ended (I'm almost done, not quite) with a bunch of server side stuff (node). I don't recommend this course for noobs---the instructor goes kind of fast. However, the pace was good for me. I was able to do the course in a single day.
