The course provides a solid introduction to Hadoop concepts such as HDFS, MapReduce, YARN, and the Hadoop ecosystem. The explanations are clear and easy to follow, especially for beginners. However, the course could be improved by including more real-world examples and hands-on exercises to better understand practical applications. Some topics like YARN and Hadoop architecture could be explained in more depth. Additionally, providing visual diagrams and step-by-step workflows would make learning more engaging. Overall, it is a good course for building foundational knowledge in Hadoop, but adding more practical content would make it even better.

Very well though out. I took a Hadoop class 5 years ago and they only explained how to create a Hadoop cluster. This class has way more examples and topics. Used Kafka and Zookeeper in previous job where I configured Kafka topic replication and retention policies managed through Zookeeper for Hadoop cluster coordination.

This has been one of my long pending learnings to be completed, it just gave a deeper insight of all the components that are used in a product in our organization. Thanks for the course, I would also like if there is a lecture on HDP upgrades and what to look out while performing upgrades.

I feel this course is more of a high level look and explanation of the features and ecosystems of Hadoop. The course did a good job of introducing all of these capabilities. It is lacking in terms of hands on practice however. You can follow along with the instructor, but that is about it. I think it is a good tool to become familiar with Hadoop before looking for more "hands on" training.

The course was very good, the demos were very clear. My only criticism is: 1. Too much content. I just felt there was too much to take on. 2. It should just focus on Hadoop Architecture, HDFS and Spark and maybe HIVE. 3. The rest should be just simple introductions. I felt too much content is crammed here. Also my cluster stopped working half way and I just could not figure out how to fix it, but I was not worried as I learn a great deal anyway.

All courses Edward does, are great. This one doesn't disappoint either. Big Data it seems is so huge, one needs a decent primer, on its major components, yet... goes a little deeper. This course does that imho. The best thing about his courses, is that they are grounded in reality what/how to approach a topic in a sense.. resembling the real world. I highly recommend all his courses...

Will recommend to someone who is new to Big Data. This course introduces to what is Big Data and its different components. Videos are clear and instructor has put in lot of effort to create this course content. At the end of the course, we would have installed Hadoop cluster and various components.

This course is very helpful for beginners and as well as for intermediate level to start with big data Hadoop. The couse is well organized and upto the point. This course give a boost to step up into further advance level in hadoop. I really like this course and prefer this course to any one willing to learn hadoop. Thanks to edward viaene investing his time to make such a good course.

Have enjoyed this introduction to Hadoop and overview of various supplementary modules. The hands on demos, while very basic, are helpful in order to get familiar with this new environment. The prebuilt Vagrant scripts worked well to create an environment on my machine in very little time. It is helpful to have your own isolated cluster to use and abuse while learning.

It needs to talk a little more slow. Also point the parts of the slide that he is referring too. I would also add that introduces some new (unknown) software pieces names on the slides without a previous explanation. The Sections needs a descriptive index and objectives . Some concepts are mentioned on the lecture but not explained. Labs are good but too light. Homework / assignments should be prepared in order to obtain necessary training. High reliance on phyton for almost all demos. If student doesn't know phyton, why don't provide a java version for the labs as java is a fully supported language on Hadoop?
