Course Description

Storm is to real-time stream processing what Hadoop is to batch processing.  Using Storm you can build applications which need you to be highly responsive to the latest data and react within seconds and minutes, such as finding the latest trending topics on twitter, or monitoring  spikes in payment gateway failures. From simple data transformations to applying machine learning algorithms on the fly, Storm can do it all.

This course has 25 Solved Examples on building Storm Applications.

What's covered?

1) Understanding Spouts and Bolts which are the building blocks of every Storm topology.

2) Running a Storm topology in the local mode and in the remote mode

3) Parallelizing data processing within a topology using different grouping strategies : Shuffle grouping, fields grouping, Direct grouping, All grouping, Custom Grouping

4) Managing reliability and fault-tolerance within Spouts and Bolts

5) Performing complex transformations on the fly using the Trident topology : Map, Filter, Windowing and Partitioning operations

6) Applying ML algorithms on the fly using libraries like Trident-ML and Storm-R.

Good course for beginners. Explanations about basics are good. But there can be some improvements. - Architecture explanation is not sufficient. - In trident section, some functions are not explained / insufficiently explained.

The contents of the course are good. But for people like me who are taking this course several years later the course was introduced, it is difficult to run the code because of several issues like - 1. Using latest maven/ java version 2. Need to update dependency versions 3. Adjusting the settings to just start the course is tiring.

Was very informative course. Learnt a lot on Apache Storm and Trident within it. I only wish there was a setup tutorial to explain how to create Maven project and jar files including how to submit it to either localCluster or remoteCluster. Could have helped me better in my practicals.

Content and intents are good however narrator seems to get lost in between of explaining, which breaks the rhythm and make it hard to understand what is being explained. Otherwise good video to start on storm

I am going to work on project which is developed using Storm. So, I wanted to understand the details about all the components of storm and get deeper understanding of the framework. I believe course is matching my expectations with sufficient number of examples. I would suggest you to add a walk through of all the options available on the storm cluster UI.

Started with Nice Pace But during the last Complex Trident API explanation Neither in-depth explanation nor any visual illustrations were provided. Apart from this all contents nicely covered with good programmatic examples.

Overall a good introduction to Apache Storm and its capabilities. The course starts out at a nice slow and detailed pace. Yet the last 2 or 3 sections feed a bit rushed. A few visual illustrations on how merge and join, and groupby would have clarify how each of these operation operate in the Trident framework. One area which was missed is how Storm's Trident framework handles scaling of components when running a Trident topology. A brief discussion of this topic would enlightening.

Very good course. The teacher seems to have good understanding of Storm features. The reason I've given four stars is because the course could have more hands on and the organization could be a bit better.

Excelente explicación, me encantan las animaciones en los slides que me ayudan a visualizar los conceptos abstractos y su interacción. El volumen y tono de la voz es correcta con mucha claridad en el idioma. Gracias.

Another LoonyCorn class with amazing depth and breadth! This is a practical course, so you see code pretty soon. As a rule of thumb, LoonyCorn discusses every single line.
