What you will learn
- You'll understand how computers work, how they are programmed, how to design a program, and you'll get a solid base to continue your education.
Course Description
Have you ever wanted to know how computers are programmed? Have you tried to learn, but got discouraged but too much maths, too much technology, too much studying? This course will explain everything from scratch, step by step and idea by idea, and you won't need anything but the four basic operations. (Psst! Actually you don't even need division.)
You're going to discover what makes a computer tick, how these machines are programmed, and what are the secrets that enable programmers to get along with them -- all in short, easy and synthesised video lectures. The course begins at an absolute zero, and will guide you all the way to using a modern programming language, called Ruby.
All this is taught using presentation, animations, videos of wires and coloured lights, playing card games and imagination exercises about people from different universes. There's one single assignment at the end, and you'll also find a few resources to help you on your way.
After completing this course you'll be able to carry on by yourself, or choose a more advanced course, without any fear that you'll get bogged down in strange or scary concepts!
This is the English translation of a successful course that I've been teaching for many years. There are students of this course who today have rewarding careers as programmers. You can have one, too!

I started web development since the early days of the web, and since then have worked for several companies, large and small. After co-owning a dev firm, I worked as a Software Architect for a large Swedish company.
In addition to programming, I'm passionate about foreign languages. I'm a book author, I play guitar and I fly helicopters.
I'm 46 years old and I'm Romanian, but I live in Sweden.

He is staying turn to the name, "From Absolute Zero". Great starting point for a "non" technical person. I am a Senior Software Engineer who is seeking to "rehash" basic programming knowledge. So this is good for me. I gained experience from "on the job" training.

This course makes it easy to understand programming logic. If he provided more examples of Ruby programming and its applications, it would be even better.

So far my favorite course I've started on this platform. Informative and engaging.

A very good course for those who want to understand what programming is! Should you be looking for a nicely structured basics of computer science theory, this course is right for you :) I started the course with no prior knowledge about programming at all and felt sometimes overwhelmed by the amout of information (namely in section 4), but after I wrote first lines of code myslef, all of the sudden, things started to make perfect sense. Also thumbs up for pronounciation, calm voice and short sentences - perfect for non-native English speakers!

Alex goes through the very basics which helps us understand how the whole edifice is running. I have been struggling with some concepts and the section on algorithms really cleared a lot up. I will go through it a second time as it seems more basic than it is, there is a lot in this course to absorb and learn.

I really enjoyed how "confusing" concepts were simplified and easy to understand with every day metaphors.

very convenient method to learn computer science programming from an absolute zero.

This course is great for those who have No knowledge of programming and who are not sure which programming field to select. It is presented in a simple , well structured manner and walks you through it all step by step so at the end , not only you will have learned one language but you will have the tools needed to make an informed decision on which direction to head . :)
