This is abeginnerto intermediatecourse.
If you are interested in painting, if you want to learn how to paint in an historic spiritualstyle, this is the perfect course. You will have a step by step guidance from a pro and you will learn how to paint icons from scratch, with acrylic paints. This course has video lessons and a pdf file with useful infos.
This course has 4 sections:
In the first section you will find a course presentation, a PDF with all needed materials for the course and a lesson that gives you some infos about the history of byzantine art.
In the second section you will learn how to paint a hand in the byzantine style.
In the third section you will find painting lessons regarding 3 types of clothing used in the iconography painting.
In the last section you will learn how to paint 2 icons from the beginning to the end(an icon of the Virgin Mary and an icon of Jesus Christ).
My choice to paint with acrylic is based on the idea of making icon painting accessible to beginners, because I consider the traditional method (egg with natural pigments) more difficult. Let's start our spiritual-artistic journey!

Quite good course. Audio instructions could be better. Colour instructions were a bit vague. Other than that, I enjoyed it and it was a good first intro to holy byzantine iconography.

I have been writing icons for almost two years using egg tempera (mixing our own paints from dry pigment and egg yolk binder) and am enjoying it tremendously. I also would like to learn the process using acrylic paints as it is sometimes difficult or very expensive to get boards prepared with the traditional (sometimes called true) gesso, but boards primed with acrylic gesso are much easier and fairly inexpensive to purchase, and the acrylic paints are also much easier to purchase locally. I'd like to have the flexibility of working with either medium. Update after halfway mark: Im enjoying watching the videos, techniques slightly different from using tempera. I can see advantages of possibly using acrylics with younger folks or those unable to afford or access some of the supplies needed to work in tempera (especially if mixing own pigments from powdered pigments)
Update at end: I'm willing to give it a try when I can get some acrylic paints (pandemic going on now so limiting my online purchases to help alleviate the non-essential shipping issues). overall I think I prefer working in egg tempera. thank you for the course. God bless you and stay healthy

Tak, kurs podoba mi si bardzo, to co bym dodaa to szkic do samodzielnego wykonania. Proporcje gowy dugo i szeroko, proporcje ciaa itd.(jak wykreli). Chciaabym napisa Ikon od A do Z. ,pozdrawiam Magorzata
