Course Description

This course will introduce students to the very basics of violin playing and music theory. It starts with learning the parts of the instrument itself, applying music to the violin, and finally teaching how to play the classic "Twinkle Twinkle". The terminology used will be explained in detail as the course progresses, and will be revisited throughout. This course is very video-intensive, with occasional power-points to emphasise certain material to help students achieve full understanding of the music theory covered in the class. The actual course will take about a week to accomplish. This time depends on how much time the student will devote to practicing the material outside of the actual video training. The course is structured in two sections. The first incorporates learning about the bow hold, the violin hold, proper positions, and bowing techniques. The second will focus on beats, in-depth music theory, and scales. Learning an instrument is a fun way to exercise your creative muscles and the violin presents a challenge, but not a difficult challenge. The violin is a very diverse instrument. It can be played in the most beautiful symphonies, and can also transition into bluegrass music. Anyone who wants to learn violin at their own pace will excel during this course, as it will teach them all the basics they will need on their way to becoming a great violinist. Who this course is for:

Anthony Terrano

Hello! I was the concert violinist and first chair violinist for Windham High School in Maine for 4 years. In High School I was the leader of a string quartet and played for multiple orchestral events such as District II and Allstate. In college, I played for the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra for 1 year and studied music education and violin performance. I also studied violin performance at 317 Maine Street School of Music in Yarmouth Maine. I have been studying intensive music theory and teaching students for 6years. I teach using a method I created to interact with my students, find their interests, and take them on a journey in music theory and violin performance. My main focus is to incorporate basic music theory and a full understanding of the violin while learning how to play it and have fun doing so. I teach a wide age verity of students which makes Udemy the perfect site for me to teach. Some of my students range from 4-5 years old to70years old!I currently teach privately and I am hoping to one day own my own studio to teach in. I was awarded the Joanna Bell Memorial Scholarship for string performance in 2011.

Terms such as 'bow string' and 'fretboard' in the first 2 lessons?
Cannot continue when the instructor doesn't know his terminology

It will be awesome if the download options are available for the rest of the lectures. On the other hand, the lectures are simple to understand and they are precise.

This is definitely great material for a beginner, the price is questionable but besides that the overall experience is wonderful.
