Course Description

Learn how to understand complex music theory without ever learning the circle of fifths! This technique has been passed down to me by my professors and his professors before him! In this course you will be able to understand all aspects of basic music theory and grasp a better understanding of the following:

  • Key signatures
  • Triads
  • Scales
  • Rhythmic relationships
  • Chords
  • Melody and Harmony
  • And Much More!

The course should take you at least a week of studying and practicing methods introduced in the course curriculum.

The course is structured in a fast-pace video by video slideshow with a voice over. Full explanations of each method are provided.

You would want to take my course if you are seeking to better your knowledge of music theory and understanding how to read everything involving music scores and triads.

All you will need for this course is a pen/pencil. Plenty of blank paper (even staff paper would help) and your brain!

I enjoy the course very much and I am glad that I enrolled as this course it relevant in my profession so I need to learn at least basics to understand what I am delaing with in my sector of work. The course is presented very well and really satisfied and grateful because I can understand it very well and learning it in that way is truly a pleasure and a great investment of time which I will always cherish that I did indeed. I already did learned a lot in a very short time, this is truly great thing to do and I appreciate it with gratefulness! So if You wish to learn soething this intensive and very infirmative course is the right place to be. A privilege of being able to engage myself with music is something very special and teaches me also a lot about life itself indeed which is even more encouraging to enroll into this course for those who still consider it if they should do so. Greatly presented and a great teacher! My best wishes!

All the lectures were very good. Easy to understand and easy to remember the circle of fifths now. Thanks for detailed explaination. I want one clarification on one lesson. In the Triads and Notes lesson, I think there is a mistake in calculating sharps for E major. For majors, we calculate sharps or flats starting from C as zero using F C G D A E B. But when you showed us the E major example, you started C as 1 sharp, and we got E major with 5 sharps from your example. But E major has only 4 sharps. F C G D, which I got from your previous class explanation. If the triads example is wrong, please update the video to avoid confusion. Thanks

2 "correct" answers in the second quiz were actually incorrect. You ALWAYS start on C when counting, F when naming sharps/flats. The given answers were reversed. In one of the presentations, E major was described as having 5 sharps, counting C as one. As per the earlier parts of the course, C should be counted as 0, meaning E major has 4 sharps. Other than the mistakes, it was a very comprehensive and educational course. It truly helped to further my understanding of music keys and triads.

The host keeps: - Saying this is "his" method, while this is a very well known method to Compliment the circle of fifths, not to replace it. - Claims that this method replaces the circle of fifths, while all it does is replace ONLY the most outer circle of it. It's decent info for beginners, but this is definitely not " A masters guide to help you study"

By Abdullah Jamal Saleh on 1/24/2020

the information is simple and well-represented, but for me and other beginners don't understand these "names" like major, sharp, flat ....etc . What the hell he means and what he is talking about ? what's the relation between this scientific material & MUSIC !! ........ So, I just saying that, this course should start with a good introduction.

Muy buen curso, nunca pude aprenderme el circulo de quintas porque me parecía demasiado engorroso y en clases de música te lo explicaban como si hubieran sacado la explicación de wikipedia. Muy didáctica la clase y el conocimiento muy práctico.

I have studied the circle of fifths somewhat and find this course very informative. I think I’m going to leave the circle of fifths in the dust and continue to use the system it seems to be much easier to grasp with a piece of paper and a pen in my head than the circle of fifths .without having one directly in front of me. I recommend this course to anybody that is into MusicTheory at all. It is open my eyes immensely this course was a large lightbulb moment to me.

I think the overall concept is great , however there are a few issues in the course .Early parts are still a little confusing a better visualization would help. Also later on he describes B major key signature when he asked for E major .Also on the test questions one of the answers for Bb has 3 bs not 2 .So with a few touch ups it could be a really cool lesson.

Im not that bright, like the circle of fifths is beyond me,but I managed to work out the triads in the last question, with their correct flats and in the right sequence, from memory using the FCGDAEB system. I would have loved a few more triad questions, just for practise.

By András Tajti on 9/23/2016

This is my first music theory course, so I do not have any previous knowledge. Although everything gets its place eventually, the first section is confusing without the triads. Despite this I really enjoy this course and it is really revealing. Also, some demonstration would be useful for triads and roman numerals.
