For me - the first part about couchdb was good, but too short. I was looking for more details, more examples of real world use like login/registering users, auth etc in simple language. Parts with entering data to database - could be shorter. The second part -building the app - not for me completly - do not know (and do not want to know jQuery) ;) - would really appreciate React :) Thank you for the course W.

Provides basic understanding of the NoSQL and CouchDB but the course is poorly constructed for beginners.. course moves forward without unclear explanations. I am not saying the course is fast, course speed is correct but the author didnt care to explain things like why we use this tool, how this step of code works, what this label means.. there is no proper hands on exercises..

An OK introduction to NoSQL and Couch DB. The first couple of sections were solid. It might be useful to include more description regarding the use of CouchApp, which creates an application embedded within Couch DB. While there may be some interest in this topic I suspect that many, including myself, would prefer information regarding accessing Couch DB through other means. The documents created were all very simple with no example or discussion of related documents.

Instructor encourages students to take an active role and type in all commands following along the lecture. There were plenty of practice and I kept busy on terminal playing with my tables and databases, making mistakes and figuring out how to recover from them. The instructor also encouraged students to continue studying and learning mysql.

All of my background has been dealing with big relational database systems, and I am in the process of familiarizing myself with the NoSQL environment. This overview has done a really good job so far breaking down the advantages and disadvantages of the two.

Very disappointed with this course. There is precious little on NoSQL Database Design. The whole Map Reduce process and especially the Reduce functions are glossed over, and the emphasis on application development is about application development NOT database design.

I love learning new things and this course was a great teacher and allowed me to learn on my own time, at my own pace. So far, so good., I'm loving this course and the hands-on approach. Learning by doing is the way I learn best and this course is a perfect match for my learning style.

This is good if you really need a guided tour, but if you don't know what you're doing in Linux then stick with Windows. The examples given in Linux are not always complete and require a good knowledge of Linux command line to understand what he is doing. I really live the tone / voice of the instructor, he appears knowledgeable but sometime in the Linux sections he is just hacking around for a solution, when I think he should have figured things out before making the lesson. And he is at times just following commonly available tutorials, like for PouchDB.com, that you could easily follow yourself. Good for an overview but not strong on the deeper explanations of what's going on, it's a how-to course, not a deep-understanding course. The three stars is mostly because I think the instructor sounds like a pretty cool guy.
