Even without having any knowledge of PHP, I was able to follow through with the course, because having an understanding of any object oriented language would be enough for this course. It would've been nicer if the instructor would've gone through some inbuilt available objects in Symfony and maybe took a lecture that would define what the most used and available objects are which are frequently used. Also, sometimes it just feels like magic that something is just available out of the box (like $input and $output). I personally felt that some topics like Entity Manager usage, and the annotations like ManyToMany and OneToMany could've been explained better, because it was all over the place with regards to how the relationship was defined. Also, it would've been great if there was a video on how ManyToMany relationship is defined on at least two Entities. Other than these few issues, I feel the course does justice to deliver an understanding of the Symfony framework without a lot of issues. I would recommend this course for anyone looking to quickly get a hold of the concepts in Symfony.

It's a good introductory course about the core concepts of Symfony. It also gives some real-life examples through code. The coverage is already quite vast given the relatively shorter duration of the course (perfect if you're busy and wanted to learn in the shortest time possible).

Well organized course. Author concisely presents all important topics of Symfony 3. It's for people who already know basics of PHP. Pay attention to used libraries and their versions because author uses deprecated versions (now is November 2018). For this reason I had to make changes in composer.json file in order to make everything work correctly. All in all, I strongly recommend this course!

The course overall is very well executed. It gives you all the information you need to get started with Symfony and apply some of its features. The instructor is qualified and his experience seems on point. My only problem is with the course's pace. It's a bit too fast for those starting with OOP in PHP, as I am. I know that it was advertised for more advanced developers, but I'd hoped for a bit more explanations. I've also encountered many bugs during my execution of the code, because of differences in versions of Symfony and forgetting about 'use' statements, but they were easily fixed most of the time. In the end, I'm satisfied and will soon start working with the framework after doing more digging about its features and possibilities it gives.

This is a pretty good crash course starter for Symfony 3. I wouldn't recommend to start with this if you haven't already worked as a full stack developer and learned the basics of things like inheritance, interfaces, dependency injection and unit testing. If you don't understand these things or aren't comfortable in PHP you may feel very lost. However, as someone with past experience with LAMP and in depth Microsoft ASP.NET core experience, it was a perfect way to quickly understand how things work in Symfony as opposed to these other stacks. I recommend using PHP Storm IDE (make sure you download php annotations and the symphony plugin, and enable auto complete. For server, MAMP Pro (on mac) or WAMPServer on windows since this course doesn't cover setting up PHP. I also had some uphill battles with implementing PHP Unit on Windows and X-debug for the unit testing code coverage reports, but googling will get you there (if you want to cry trying to figure this out, its normal, but you need to just do it if you're ever gonna be a professional developer). Also, be sure to read the Q&A if you run into an issue, the course is a bit out of date, so some dependencies are wrong or old, and he forgets to show how to add the Doctrine Fixtures Bundle to the services config. Overall though, it does the the job and gives you the basics you need.

Overall I really liked how in this course components of Symfony/Doctrine were explained in a very easy to understand way. For example: I played around with Doctrine a bit in the past where I added data transformation methods to Entities directly, just because I did not completely get the difference in purpose of an Entity and a Repository. The instructor very casually explained the purpose of the components in Doctrine which made me realize my mistake in this pretty fast. The only thing I would have really liked in this course, would be a section about Symfony's Identity management and Session handling. But overall, It really helped me to update my knowledge about Symfony (haven't worked with it for some time) So Thanks! :)

The course was well worth the investment of time and money. It is a nice crash course for someone who has good PHP skills and is familiar with other development frameworks in general but needs to come up to speed quickly with Symfony. The instructor was concise and obviously very experienced with the framework. The only recommendation for improvement would be to give more theory and background behind some of the concepts. Symfony is a very powerful framework so more explanation of what is going on behind the scenes would be helpful. Other than that, great job!

very nice course to introduce Symfony. Take in consideration that it requires some knowledge of object oriented PHP as it's not an introductory course to PHP. 3 and a half stars because i felt the way that then instructor was going to much through the docs of Symfony while he could teach another 3-4 topics that were not described in the docs, like some more over-used Bundles. Good course overall. i recommend it if you are on PHP for some time.

Wojciech has a simple no nonsense way of delivering his point which covers ground very fast, and yet seems to bring me along with him. I'm very impressed, and I've come along quite quickly. Before this course, I just didn't 'get' MVC/symfony, or database abstraction. In a few short hours I feel I've covered all of this in some depth.

A while back I had tried to learn Symfony2 by myself, with just the documentation... While I did manage to build a few things, I wish I had simply started here, even having a few basics about Symfony this course made things so much clearer! Now I only wish for another course to jump deeper into things, but this is an excellent start.
