Course Description
In this Learning Autodesk AutoCAD 2016 training course, expert author Brian Benton will teach you how to create 2D drawings using the latest version of this computer aided design software from Autodesk. This course is designed for the absolute beginner, meaning no experience with AutoCAD is required.

From there, Brian will teach you basic operations, such as how to quit AutoCAD, work with the coordinate system, and use the grid system. This video tutorial will also teach you how to use the drawing and drafting tools, editing tools, and the utilities. You will also cover the precision tools to help you draw accurately. Brian will teach you how to use layers, annotations, blocks, and model and paper space. Finally, you will use your skills to create a drawing of a small movie theatre.
Once you have completed this computer based training course, you will be fully capable of using AutoCAD 2016 to create your own 2D drawings. Working files are included, allowing you to follow along with the author throughout the lessons.

Excellent experience with the instructor. I have gained so much valuable knowledge from this training. I was recently put over a department layout modification project, and I had little experience with ACAD, but after going through this training, I was able to make all necessary modifications and get the final draft approved and entered to our plant layout.

Very good direction, easy to understand instructor verbally, and able to follow the directions to this point without issue. You are able to pause and replay as you are going if you need a little extra time to understand the functions being explained. The progression of the content knowledge works great with building your skill in navigating the functions of AutoCAD without it being overwhelming.

Excellent, but sometimes he goes over a complex point in a few seconds, so I find myself replaying a section again and again.

Very descriptive and well planned tutorial for the beginner user of AutoCAD 2016. Speed is nice, language top notch and content well prepared. I would give 5 stars if there would be more practice or exercises involved. Otherwise - thank you Dean!

I highly recommend all 101 students thinking about taking or required to take Auto Cad to do the lesson first....its amazing, but hard....This instructor should be doing all the other Auto Cad course. I purchased Auto Cad Electrical and the instructor is very hard to understand, too fast and sounds unsure about his abilities....I wish this instructor could be teaching the Electrical course and others...

Extremely informative and helpful. Originally only gave 4.5 stars because of the order of the courses, going through updates to the new program is great and all but means nothing to a new user, should start with basic functions and then bring those up later. However, even with that, I re-ranked it as 5 stars. The information and level of detail that the instructor goes into is perfect. Besides Section 2, everything is put in an order that makes sense and helps the student truly understand auto-cad. The end of section projects are very useful way to review everything that was learned, right after completion as well as being used as a refresher.

This course starts off very slow, it covers good ground in general but it feels many of the aspects taught are personal preferences as there are limited explanations as to why we are instructed to do something a certain way. If I taught the course I would have had a video right at the start to explain what files can be interfaced with AutoCAD, ok so I know txt, jpg, png and dwg (drawing) files can be - but what about in terms of MS Word, Excel, Photoshop/Illustrator PSD files etc. How great would it be if you can freely move a 3D object to be edited in Photoshop and vice versa? The project idea is great, for those wondering you basically end up learning how to produce a construction-type blueprint of a "movie house," however the project could have definitely been more engaging. Specifically, it would have been better if the same project was developed ALL THE WAY through the course i.e. early on you work with a house/driveway/road/sidewalk project, which doesn't manifest to much, and then very late in the course you start this "movie house" project - why not just one? I also had the impression the course was going to touch on 3D aspects, it would be great to just build a simple child-like style 3D house by just covering the basics there e.g. the Extrude command, to extend objects on the Z axis. I would recommend this course to others, but warn them that the first 3 chapters learning to open/close files etc. could be a little extreme unless the prospective student is my mum - phrases like "To open click the open button which opens a file, then select a file to open and it will open in a new tab"... is a bit too much! Not sure if this just an American style of teaching but it comes across monotone and detracts from the efficiency and teaching strength of the course overall

The instructor is very thorough with his presentations. They are very well prepared, logically organized and easy to follow. The instructor communicates very well. He speaks clearly and is easily understood. I have attained a greater level of understanding of AutoCAD by taking this course. I HIGHLY recommend this course if you are an AutoCAD user.

With this course you can open projects that are based on what is learned in each chapter. This allows the student to practise along with the tutor. The projects are simple but relevant and challenge understanding and memory. The regular repetition was great for a beginner but not over the top. I think this is a great course that gives enough insight into AutoCAD to get you going.

Signed up for this to get a crash course on AutoCad for work. Very easy to follow and learning a lot. I have no previous AutoCad experience but feel comfortable with how to use the basic tools. Hard part is getting through the 'whats new 2016' stuff at the beginning, as i had no idea what was available before. Just listen and follow along but dont give up on it. The real instruction come after.
