Course Description

Among the various JavaScript libraries available to developers, KnockoutJS really stands out due to the diverse features it provides and also because it promotes the use of the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) design pattern to build data-driven web applications. Construct power-packed apps without compromising on its flexibility and build rich user interfaces, which will update in real-time when the data model state changes, eliminating the need to refresh pages.

Learning KnockoutJS will walk you through all of the key features of KnockoutJS and make it easy for you to quickly and easily build feature-and data-rich web applications that are easy to extend and maintain.

We start off with a brief introduction to KnockoutJS, and its various benefits, and explore the different design patterns in context of KnockoutJS to make your JavaScript code cleaner and more manageable. After that, we will walk through and understand the relationship between Models, Views, and ViewModels, as well as creating them.

Along with that, you will also learn how we can use the different data binding attributes to manipulate the output. We will also discuss and implement various important concepts such as two way data binding and dependency tracking to update your UI in real-time and to separate the components of your application into logical parts.

We will analyze Knockout's template feature to help you deal with data context in most scenarios. Then, we will take a look at how to track the changes in dependencies and subscribe to them using computed observables and subscriptions. Furthermore, you will also learn how to customize bindings and functions as well as using extenders to create our own set of Knockout tools. Finally, we will take a look at some advanced features of KnockoutJS to take your knowledge to the next level!

Learning KnockoutJS is more than just an introduction; it's a complete course on one of JavaScript's innovative libraries.

This is in depth and shows a variety of knowledge. However, the instructor moves way too fast to keep up with/ constantly having to pause the video to reference some code that was added with no comment.

By JBenito Lopez on 1/17/2021

By JG Auza on 4/21/2020

I have to slow down the video up to .75 speed just to pause with the coding onscreen. Much better if you don't code fast or switch screens fast for easier comprehension. Thanks anyways for the materials.

Clear and good course but you need basic knowledge of JavaScript programming

just to fast and bad course, does not explain anything well

Learning KnockoutJS is a video course who want to learn and integrate MVVM pattern into their project. This course begins with introduction to knockoutJS and its various features, also explaining how it simplifies application development. In initial section we see two design patterns closely associated with knockoutjs. In the section that follows it, we take a look at knockoutjs fundamental stuff like creating model, view and viewmodels. Also displaying data within the model and dynamically binding it. After that we will be diving deep into advanced topics like data-binding on form, updating models from view, template binding etc. This course is intended for who have prior knowledge of html, CSS and JS and would like to enhance their skills with knowledge of this MVVm framework.

I felt this course was well organized, the content seemed to progress with each section, and I didn't feel overwhelmed at all with the pace. I'm not completely new to JS, but I'm new to KnockoutJS. Well worth the cost, if anything I would like to see some Quiz material added in the future, but still a solid 5/5. I'm a huge fan of Packt Publishing, and now I found them on my favorite website for learning at my own pace Udemy. This course was the first of many that I have in my wish list, which I typically snag up when there is a large sale.

I have learnt a lot about KnockoutJs by using this awesome course. Thanks a lot for the Author Robert Gaut. If you have ever wanted to create rich, responsive, and dynamic user interfaces without mixing a lot of scripts, this course will give you everything you need to accomplish that goal with Knockout JS and Durandal. Throughout this course you'll learn how to create a "Media Tracking Application" by using KnockoutJs and Durandal. Which is really great. If you have a basic knowledge about Javascript and Html and If you need to learn KnockoutJS then this is the course for you. I highly recommend it to you :)

The instructor speaks clearly with no accent and the video is well done. The topics quickly get complex and he goes fast through some sessions but I can watch them again until I get it. I loved his intro into JavaScript...it cleared up a lot and his course sample project works well for this tutorial.

By Winston Hardson on 9/28/2015

The author very carefully takes the student through the inter-workings of knockout.js. Although the examples are mostly from for newbies, you will find this as a great introduction to Knockout.js to jump start further development.
