Course Description
In this hands-on course, trainer Jesse Feiler will teach you how to build an iOS or OS X app using Objective-C and Xcode. This tutorial series is designed for those who have some programming knowledge, although no experience with Objective-C is required. You will start by learning how to work with Xcode, including how to edit code, use the utility area, find and search, and track changes. From there, Jesse will teach you about Objective-C and how to communicate with messages.
This video tutorial will also teach you how to add and customize your own code, create new classes and methods, and manage declared properties. You will also learn how to work with the built-in debugger, as well as use protocols and delegates, work with class extensions, and use blocks. Finally, you will learn how to handle exceptions and use selectors. Once you have completed this computer based training course, you will be fully capable of building your own app from an Xcode template, and be able to customize it to your own preferences.

I kept fast forwarding to see when I will start learning some objective-c but majority of this class is how to create a project on Xcode and how to use Xcode. The title should've been using Xcode or learning to create a project on Xcode. Like I literally haven't seen anything that helps me learn objective-c syntax.

Accent is a little bit strong. And from the beginning of Object-C he shows me a bunch of things which are new to me and thus makes me frustrated. He should begin with something smaller, such as the basic grammar, the difference between C/C++ and Objective-C, rather than go to a project on Xcode directly, because there are too many new things to an individual who is new to it.

I got a little confused in the first lesson when mr Feiler was talking about message passing to objects or functions. Can that be explained in layman's term. Too much explanation i.e. repeating the same thing in many lessons. It is like preaching to the converted. Still have not heard about the message passing and call backs. The course does not explain enough about how the Objective c framework. I did not get the low down on how it hangs together. I did learn something but not as much as I hoped. It would have been nice to see a OS X example.

Was really enjoying the course and understanding the content, but it just seemed to end very abruptly - not even a 'sign off' from the instructor, and I feel there was a lot more about Objective-C to learn...?

This is by far the best course / tutorial I have seen for Objective-C. It covers all the stuff you need to know and it's compact and very clearly explained. If you need or want to learn Objective-C, this course is definitely the best choice!

Best introduction to X-Code I have ever seen. Have to watch close though, as some topics seem to make assumptions (what is a property) that I have not been introduced to before.

His pace is great. I am watching this in 2017 because I know a bit of swift but want to brush up on my Objective-C knowledge. I can also say confidently that his introduction to Xcode is the best I have ever watched, and I have watched many. Regardless of the fact that this is an older version, it still is in depth and very helpful

I am trying to be nice in my review but for the most part this course is very basic. Concepts are often repeated many times in a row. I think this is because it is designed for people that are beginners to all languages or need the "learn by hammering it in to their brains" approach. Personally I learned little new as based for object oriented frameworks but there were some golden nuggets about how Objective C handles the object oriented concepts a little different or new syntax to pick up. Just to few of them.

Great class for anybody who is looking for a quick crash course on Objective C. Some topics were distracted by emphasis on warnings or different ways to do things in the IDE.

Especially if you're already comfortable with Xcode, you can move swiftly through the [dev. environment] material, and focus on the Objective-C examples and insights Jesse provides. Even if your first iOS app was in Swift, you'll probably need to understand some Objective-C in order to take advantage of the body of knowledge out there about iOS and its predecessors (NeXTStep, OS X).
