Level Up in Auto Layout - Swift & iOS (Udemy.com)

This course, at least, dedicates a minute or two to what I am primarily interested in: Xcode interface builder. The thing is extremely counter-intuitive for someone like me, with a background in Delphi (RIP) and Visual Studio, and there is no clear documentation anywhere (not the one that's at least five versions behind, at any rate). On the other hand, virtually all Apple/Swift courses here on Udemy or elsewhere are about SwiftUI: UIKit is the thing from the past, but this past isn't going anywhere yet so, if I'm to have any hope to ever get a job in the Apple ecosystem, I need at least some UIKit skills -- since I'm already good enough with SwiftUI to have put my SwiftUI/Metal app on App Store, for Mac OS and iPad OS. Which is where this course comes extremely handy: so, many thanks for creating it and putting it out there.

Great course, the instructor has great knowledge in the field of iOS development and the design challenges really make you try to apply what you are learning, I hoped if he included a section about animation. I did not complete the course yet I'm at Section 4 now, and I'm very exited to start section 5 as I'm quite curious about adaptive layout. Thanks Jonathan!

I am just so glad that I have taken this course. This course is simply the best auto-layout courses that I've ever taken. I don't know how many hours and days I have spent trying to figure out auto-layout to work with different screen sizes because constraints are really strict. With ideas like CHCR, priorities, other techniques that was shown, I was able to figure it out and came the "Ah-Hah!" moment. One downside I came across as I was taking this course was that everything is done programmatically (except for the stack view part) but the project I'm working on requires storyboard usage so I thought it may not be 100% useful, but guess what? I thought wrong because understanding the concept and even if it's programmatically, it's all the same. Thank you so much for this course, and I highly recommend any iOS developers wanting to really know what they are doing when building app to give this course a try!

I would like to thank Jonathan Rasmusson for the excellent course. There were a lot of new things I learned and I felt very motivated to test and experiment throughout the course. The course has been updated over time, so that, in addition to learning about AutoLayout, I was also able to learn a little more about ways to create Views in older versions of iOS. This course did a great job at explaining the fundamentals of AutoLayout in a thorough yet concise way. Things that used to confuse me like Content Hugging Priority, Compression Resistance Priority and StackViews make perfect sense now. Thanks to Jon for putting together this awesome course!

The chapter on "Content Hugging Compression Resistance" was very hard, compared to the rest of the contents. It could be improved. Also, toward the end, the level of difficulty suddenly got accelerated. It would have been nicer if we could face an intermediate boss before facing off the last boss. But overall it was a wonderful course. I particularly liked the tasks the instructor provided to us. They helped me gain a lot of skills. In the end, that's all that matters.

Overall it is a good course and it covers some important topics but I think it needs to be more advanced and showcase some real-world use cases where you create a UI based on a design from Figma or other design application, and the content needs to be updated since it uses some outdated API's.

It's amazing the way he teaches, delivers small chunks of knowledge then nudge us to try the solution. He answers all of your questions kindly. For me, it was an awesome course. We have great content, in CustomViews, StackView, Spacers, and share with us incredible tips/tricks which make better learning. I highly recommend his courses. Thank you, Jonathan.

It was clearly presentet, I loved that you get some design challenges that you might not solve the way the instructor does it, and that way you learn new things from that to, and the final one, he shows 2 solutions, because, there are many ways to do it, not just one right one.

This course was great! The labs and challenges were extremely valuable and very well planned out. I'm sure I will use them as references in my future development efforts. The instructor also did a great job of explaining the significance of various built in view properties and variables. Just watching the lectures I learned all kinds of new tips and tricks I hadn't seen before. The approaches covered are almost entirely programmatic with very limited use of the interface builder. This made this course a great complement to Andi Setiyadi's auto layout course which focussed on interface builder. My only complaint is that I would have liked to see adaptive layouts using size classes and layouts of custom table cells.
