Why a course by Jamie Fry?
I have 10 years experience with tableau products in the workplace. I've watched it grow from simple drag and drop tool into a extremely powerful visualisation software, from a Private company to an IPO. I am not a full time udemy instructor, which i believe is a strength. What i will teach you i use everyday in my workplace, for all different manner of clients across the globe. My technical teaching of this tool comes with real workplace Do's and Don'ts, teaching you will not get from full time instructors that have been out of the workplace for a number of years. I teach tableau in classrooms face to face and via video conferencing, and years of this experience has led to this streamlined course. I came into this class never having used Tableau prep before. The only major qualms I have are that there were a few instances where moving from one module to the next, they were clearly made at different times and the data flows don't match up (naming conventions), and finally, the data sources for the final project didn't seem to be free of error (I experienced several mismatched fields whereas the instructor states that he experienced none)

Me gustó el curso, aunque algunas veces se sentía muy lento por la forma como habla. Sin embargo, se aprende, se cumple con el objetivo. Ya el resto es parte de uno. I liked the course, although sometimes he felt very slow because of the way he talks. However, you learn, the goal is met. The rest is already part of one.

Jamie Fry has put together a thorough Tableau Prep course, highlighting the core functions of the application. You will walk away trained and confident in your newfound abilities. The only thing I find frustrating is that he follows an annoying industry trend of inflating the length of the instructional videos by spending a dreadful 1:30-2:30 minutes rambling about what he reviewed in the prior lecture. This is absolutely unnecessary, and furthermore, it’s misleading. When you market your course as having x-Hours of instructional videos but 30% of that is a time sink, that deludes your brand and product.

Creating data flows section got more interesting on "The Pivot Step & Calculated Fields" for me. That step actually answer an important question in a project I am currently working on. I needed to turn headers (in a row) into a column field in Tableau Prep though I can execute that same step using excel power queries. Meanwhile, I was looking for a better way/practice in Prep. At this time, I am convinced that the next step, "The Aggregate Step" will blow my mind, lol.

Excellent course delivery on the contents. I am an Alteryx specialist and Power BI analyst. Next thing you know that we are migrating to Tableau Prep which I have not used prior. But it seems to be an easier transition than I thought by learning this course from Jamie and some Tableau Desktop course online somewhere to make up.

The course is well-structured, and the instructor did a great job in explaining and demonstrating Tableau Prep capabilities. The pace is just nice. The examples and project are very relevant. I could learn a lot and now have more confidence in using Tableau Prep. Thank you Jamie!

I know you said to alter the resolution, but the video focus thing is definitely a drawback, and I think, an unnecessary one, as the content is very good. With this corrected, and some information on how to automate Prep - how to set up daily feeds, and sample size/full file size settings and how/when to apply, I would increase my rating.

My data cleaning background is with Microsoft Power Query (and Power BI Query Editor). I needed to quickly understand how Tableau Prep compared - - better, worse, different. Jamie Fry has answered those questions. I am very pleased with his guidance. He is comprehensive and provides examples that highlight the necessary techniques to get things done. As a fellow Udemy instructor on data cleaning topics, I give this course my full endorsement. Bravo Jamie!

Really enjoyed the course. The instructor explained things very well, providing good real-world contexts but also helpful in mentioning the various pitfalls of misinterpretation and wrong assumption that can occur. I found the project particularly helpful in it's scope and applicability to real data cleaning and analysis.

This was a great overview of the functions and capabilities of using Tableau Prep as a "cleaning the data tool" (ETL). Though this is an "introductory" course, you should not take it before gaining experience with Tableau Desktop/Public. Jamie skims past skills you should have prior to taking. This course was well done and I'd highly recommend it.
